Join us in establishing our claim as that place with the mad library skills. We are looking for a resident who will apply his/her skills to projects with impact. We are looking for someone with a high level of comfort in the online environment (whether it be web design, social networks, social tools, course management systems, content management systems, integrated library systems, programming, or other web-related skills) and a strong interest in learning more as s/he works in tandem with experienced librarians.

Reference and/or Instruction (~10%)
Service (~15%): Serve on various Libraries or University teams or committees, dependent upon need and/or interest.

Send a letter of interest, resume, and three references to the attention of Peggy Goe, Director of Human Resources and Diversity, at ksul-hr@gw.ksu.edu and indicate JOB RES2008 in the subject line. Screening of applications will begin February 1st and continue until filled.
More information is available on the K-State Libraries'
site.
Please note that I'm not the apply-to contact, but if you mefi mail me, I can answer any questions you might have.

I have a light switch on the wall that controls both an overhead light and an outleft. I'd like it to only control the overhead light, while still sending power on to the outlet.

Mefi-brarians or mefi-brarians-to-be, come work at a growing academic library in the Midwest. We offer boundless opportunities for anyone who wants to provide innovative services to users and make a real contribution to campus, almost unreasonably warm and friendly coworkers, and a kickass dean who values those who cut the usual academic crap and get to work.
This is a far more technology-focused position than most traditional academic library positions. As a Science Librarian, you would:
* Provide general and specialized research assistance, collection management, and library instruction to bioscience and/or engineering academic departments.
* Participate in collaborative projects, research teams, and grant activities related to bioscience and technology initiatives.
* Develops, manage, and promote Sciences Department digital content and services and provides support for Sciences Department digital content creators.
* Investigate, test, and recommend cutting-edge solutions for Web-delivered science, agriculture, and engineering content.
* Contributes digital imaging, metadata, and database creation and management expertise to Sciences Department projects and initiatives.
* Serves as liaison between the Sciences Department and the Digital Initiatives Department.
We're willing to hire brand new library school grads; this is more about a mindset and an attitude than specific work experience. Tenure-track position. Cover letter, CV, and 3 references to apply. Must hold an MLS from an ALA accredited institution.

I need to attach a promotional magnet to a paper flyer. I'd like to use that peel-off adhesive often used to attach samples in magazine ads. What is it?

I have been given a nice, new laptop at work. It has a wireless card, and is also connected via an ethernet cable. How can I get it to default to using the faster, more stable ethernet connection when I'm at my desk?

I'm creating a book for a nephew's upcoming 5th birthday. I want to use photos I have of him and his family as the illustrations, altered in Photoshop to look more like illustrations (like a normal kids' book) than photos, but I'm not so good with the filters...

"Libraries
are rich, deep, resources for preserving cultural heritage and indispensable resources for the communities they serve.”
OCLC, a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization, has compiled a list of the
top 1000 titles owned or licensed by its 50,000+ member libraries. There are sublists by subject, a cross listing with a
banned books list, and some
fun facts, including the supremely annoying one that the highest listed living author is Jim Davis of Garfield fame (#18).
