"Rise of the Empire"Feast your eyes on a fake Star Wars trailer for Episode III done completely with Lego men (and women). It won the Audience Choice award at BrickFest 2002 and is really impressive for a home made production. See for yourself!

Really impressive work, but I wish it was just a touch shorter. It loses its punch by cramming in too many scenes.
Come to think of it, that's probably what people will say about the movie itself. posted by jragon at 1:31 PM on July 30, 2002
Cute. I like pregnant Padme. Now if only they hadn't tried so hard with the writing -- it sounds better than your average Lucas dialogue already, and that's a little jarring. posted by muckster at 1:35 PM on July 30, 2002
FWIW, I think the title is off. The first trilogy already had its of the title, and Empire almost certainly won't feature in a Star Wars title again. Think verb, think Sith. More discussion than is healthy can be found here. posted by muckster at 2:08 PM on July 30, 2002
Muckster, those boards you linked to scare the shit out of me. posted by monju_bosatsu at 2:09 PM on July 30, 2002

This is really amazing.
I heard that someone re-edited The Phantom Menace and it's actually a much better story than the theatrical release version. Anyone have info on where to find, or view it? Legally speaking, of course. posted by bingo at 3:44 PM on July 30, 2002
Hey there bingo. Do a search for "Phantom Edit" on your favorite file sharing network. I don't think the story is much different -- there's only so much you can do without additional footage. I think they mainly cut out Jar Jar Binks. posted by muckster at 3:54 PM on July 30, 2002
which indeed helps out the film greatly posted by KnitWit at 4:26 PM on July 30, 2002
Ah, that was good. I think it missed a little bit towards the end, but overall, that was really cool. posted by adampsyche at 5:09 PM on July 30, 2002
That actually got me excited about the possibilities of Episode III. Which will the inevitable disappointment sting that much worse. posted by Dirjy at 7:14 PM on July 30, 2002
The trailer has been placed in a more accessible folder (or something) and is viewable again. It's still a hefty download, but its worth seeing, if you couldn't get to it before. posted by yhbc at 8:59 PM on July 31, 2002
