Appreciate Bubble Wrap

Monday is Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day, and the folks that first made it are leading the celebrations by giving away free samples.
In a world of increasingly obtuse corporate names (qwest? verizon? Wonder what they do/make?) it's nice to see that the company that first made, and still make, Bubble Wrap is quite sensibly named Sealed Air Corporation. Now that's descriptive!

You beat me to it, TBone. Virtual Bubble Pack is fun, non-polluting, and available in many other forms on the 'net.
Our odd fascination with bubble wrap is also the theme of Rick Dublin's short film Bubblepac (it's a fave of mine.)

Virtual bubble-wrap was my first encounter of the Shockwave plug-in. That inspiration alone makes it great.

ynbc: Sealed Air Corporation is a great name.
I never realized they actually made bubble wrap, though. I'm used to seeing their name on on larger, pillow-like air bags that are used to protect computers in shipping boxes. Me and my co-workers loved that these large bags of air were made by, who else, but the Sealed Air Corporation.

I'm waiting for them to come out with fitted sheets and pillow cases.

This has done my holiday shopping for next year already! Thanks. I'm not sure if its scary or neat that I could send people free samples and they'd like it so much.

Those bigger, pillow sized air bags make for a good practical joke. To wit:
Put 'em under someone's car wheels. The bigger ones make quite a loud bang. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on a strip of 4 or 5... well...
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! as they back their car out. Guaranteed laffs as the car driver freaks out.

This fine product has given children of all ages countless hours of joy and satisfaction, popping those little bubbles... it should be a federal holiday! ;)

Seen on the Web: "Therapy is expensive. Bubble wrap is cheap. You choose."
