SubscribeOne of the worst things I've heard about this (on radio, no link, sorry) is that they're not even sure who's on board. Appearently, in the Russian Navy members of sub crews tend to just be shuffled into one sub or another arbitrarily when they're in port, without anyone really keeping track. So there's a lot of anxious moms standing on the edge of the sea there waiting for news while their sons are probably 1000 miles away perfectly safe.

I've deliberately been avoiding coverage of this story because the very idea of those men trapped on the ocean floor all this time makes me feel ill. It doesn't help that the day before this story hit the news, I watched Das Boot. Excellent film, btw. Almost too effective.
