I would kill to find these in the states...

It just sounds like every cheap MIDI file version of these songs with horrid instruments applied. I second "this is terrible".

I recently turned on my two-month old niece to Raymond Scott and she seems pretty happy. Could be gas, though.

i'd give a point for the inclusion of spinal tap if it weren't a moot point.

And don't get me wrong. I agree these are terrible -- but in a glorious way.

If you baby doesn't respond to the Midi style arragements, then perhaps this acoustic earthy mother figure delivery will soothe your childs senses...

JBennet - that was absolutely lovely. My six month old daughter has a new favorite lullaby.

This headline reminds me of a story my mother likes to embarrass me with about my misspent infancy.

When I was just being potty-trained, Eddie Murphy's misguided attempt at a singing career was going on. I changed the lyrics of "My girl wants to party all the time" accordingly. And sang it EVERYWHERE.

You know, if you ignore the "for babies" aspect, this (at least the hip-hop samples I listened to) would make some really fabulous lounge music. Or... fabulously terrible. The line is blurry.

I think the concept of rock songs rearranged as lullabies is a good one, but this ain't it. This is shitty midi. Sweet Child of Mine would make a great lullaby, if played slowly on a xylophone and sung in a motherly voice.

I like the shirts (especially the "Mama ain't raisin' no fool!" shirt) and the love/hate booties, even though the music is pretty awful to adult ears.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I thought a few were kind of quirky-cute, in a lounge-y sort of way. At least it's better than those horrifying Kidz Bop things. I get nightmares just from the commercials.

Well, since I've only recently got my MeFi account and it is such a guilty pleasure, I'm going to call an (almost) double-post

That being said, I think the site is cool and deserves a front page post even if some of the content was duplicated in the baby clothing attitude thread.

Also, my partner is an infant/toddler teacher and one of my favorite kids of hers has really cool parents that expose her to all sorts of music. And to her mother's undying consternation and her fathers infinite delight....the 2 year old is quite the Ween fan. Kids got a future...not sure what sort though.

afflatus, as one newbie to another, I believe that there is agreed to be absolutely no problem with posting to the front page links previously found in comments.

rustcellar, I think its a matter of ettiquette debate. However, I did not take offense at the link and hopefully indicated that I enjoyed the link and that the double post comment was more of a guilty pleasure than a jab at the poster.

I fall under that category of "long time listener, first time caller" and just thought I'd point out the mention in the other thread. We've no problems at all and are in agreement.

rustcellar: i've never seen an agreement about that - it is usually a pretty contentious thing to do.
