More dating webloggers.

More dating webloggers. Online journallers, really: Stephanie polled her readers as to whether she should go out with Mike. They voted overwhelmingly in favor, and now she's traveled from Detroit to Columbus to meet him. Everyone's watching with bated breath. Well, every one of their readers, anyway ... but five thousand people voted in her poll.

(Whoops, I thought it was Detroit, but MSU is actually in Ann Arbor.)

I don't see what could go wrong. First dates are always no-pressure, right?

Do you think each of them will post a blow-by-blow of their meeting? OK, do you think each of them will post an HONEST blow-by-blow? It feels like watching a car wreck.

dhartung: UofM is in Ann Arbor, MSU is in Lansing.

maybe not a blow-by-blow but more of a play-by-play? [sorry.]

Is there a way for them to carry PDAs or something and update during the actual date?

Stephanie: Well, I'm at his door and . . . oh god . . . what a weird nose.

Mike: I'm trying to smile sincerely while I check out her rack.

. . .

Stephanie: He's so CHARMING!

Mike: She's still talking . . . dammit, Blogger is down aga

. . .

Stephanie: Could this really be love?

Mike: Could this really be the bill?

. . .

Stephanie: That was magical. Magical.

Mike: Zzzzzz.

Blog Love is cool. If the date goes well, instead of kissing him goodnight she can just go to Bloghop and give him a favorable rating.

...or at least rank him on amihotornot.com

Well, you all know what I'd say about something like this, so I won't even bother.

Fast forward 20 years, 2.2 kids later.......So how did Mom meet Dad? Well, this online poll was conducted, a recount was done since 5,000 people really didn't vote, and I was soon on my way driving some oh, 258 miles to meet the unknown, only later to give sketchy details on how things really went.

There we go. "Hey, cutie, got a date for the bloghop? Everybody's gonna be there!"

Oh, damnit, here I am doing sequential one-liners again. Anyway, I was a little skeptical of the 5000 voter figure until I considered that it might have been passed around campus.

I get more hits when I like a new online person. it's fun. too bad none of them ever had a blog. would have gotten me even more hits....hah!

it'll probably be a good "date" unless there's no chemistry; it happens.

well it's been over 24 hours since either of them have updated their blogs. i don't know if that's good or bad.

Ok, this is Mike of frantic.org and I have to be honest with you- I run the site that she was using to poll people on whether or not she should go out with me. (Cheap plug - go, sign up, put polls on your site, it's cool) Anyway, I MAY have gone into the SQL database and added 5000 votes or so for myself, but.. you can't prove anything. She just left to go back home to Michigan, so I'm sure we'll both update later today on our impressions of the whole thing (I know I had a lot of fun).
