Think your life sucks?

Think your life sucks? This moron has spent his entire adult life growing his fingernails. It has cost him dearly. The hand is question is a misshapen claw. He has permanent nerve damage from the weight, resulting in permanent deafness in his right ear. But at least he's famous. (via joerogan.net)

While looking for a picture of the guy (and his useless/awe-inspiring "skill"), I came accross this. Uh, weird.

A photo of the hand in question

Bah! Joe Rogan's far too sensible for my liking (and linking). The "how many days can I go up and down this escalator for" breed of people, of which i'm a member, are wonderful and push staring competitions and eating AOL CDs to incredible limits. Hell, Mr Shridhar Chillal here, he hasn't just had his name printed in a book - his feat is known by millions and I appreciate the perserverance. Rogan is a wet blanket, or something. Shridhar Chillal well...

GENIUS!

I don't know, I mean, they're appalling at first, but after you look at the picture for a minute, they're actually kind of beautiful. They really are kind of like antlers.

Nice. Weird. Bizarre. Beautiful. But worth losing my hearing and sleep for? Nah.

As opposed to those of us who spend our adult lives surfing the net and posting our every thought on a blog?

To each his own. I'm a nail biter myself.

Antlers! ROTFL, but no, wiremommy. That picture made me glad for being a lifelong nailbiter. (yayy bondcliff!)

Hey, dude, to each their own glory. How else does a poor guy from rural India make a mark in the world?

Sure, he's a kook, and yeah, the hand looks elegantly creepy, but this staggering accomplishment is certainly deserving of some kind of props.

He's my hero! I wish I could stop biting my nails and after looking at that picture, I'm totally disgusted by the sight of cuticles.

Um, be Ghandi?

Seriously, though...It's not like the guy did this on a lark. If you read the article, he has been virtually unable to sleep for 50 years. He won't get near his grandchildren (or anyone else, for that matter) for fear of breaking his nails. Not to mention suffering constant pain and permanent disfugurement. In other words, he has sacrificed many of the most basic, enjoyable, elements of his life, all in the pursuit of that abstract concept of fame. That is indicitive of a seriously fucked-up sense of priorities.

Hey, to each his own, to be sure. I just reserve the right to call 'em like I see 'em. And, in that picture, I see the hand of a moron.
