Jerry Lewis pulled an Andy Kaufman

Jerry Lewis pulled an Andy Kaufman at a recent comedy awards Q&A session. When asked about female comics he admires, he answered with "I don't like any female comedians" and went so far as to say that he considers a woman "a producing machine that brings babies in the world." No word yet on whether or not he'll start professional wrestling anytime soon.

ouch. that smarts. Jerry Lewis was my very favorite too. skinny, gawky, falling-all-over himself kid? oh yeah, comedy is what that is! but stories of his enormous ego and how he was near impossible to work with (break with dean martin), I guess I should have known. he's disagreeable on a personal level now though, well, in a way. I'm not a comic, but yes, a woman, and I just cannot ignore comments like that. oh another idol down the drain.

Recent New Yorker article had a nice tidbit. Apparently Jerry is obsessed with clowns, and the height of his clown fetish came with an unfinished movie from around '72 or '73. Entitled "The Day the Clown Cried", it centered around a clown forced by the Nazis to lure children into gas chambers. Yeah, Jerry's an interesting guy.

I think the real Jerry died around 1970, and this bitter old man took his place. At least, that's what I'd like to think.
