NTIA to sell admin rights to .us domainFlying mostly under the radar of the mass media, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration is getting ready to sell off admin rights to the .us domain, which has largely been the province of state and local governments and their various departments. Libraries, schools, etc. argue that the namespace is a "public trust" and should not be turned over to the highest bidder for commercial interests.

And if a small kickback to the federal government could be arranged, it might help fund some other public resources.
