My apologies in advance for furthering the stereotype. I'm a girl, I like video games, but I lean towards puzzles games & sims... & my skills suck. My boyfriend is a video game collector & fairly avid player, as it is, his interest in types of games & his skill level are a fair bit different than my own. We recently got a PS3 & I'd like to expand the library by adding a few new games for myself (I'm looking for older stuff preferably: PS2 or even PS1 games). I like to play, but often have trouble finding games... so here I am turning to the MetaFilter Suggestion Engine.

My friends and I have recently begun experimenting with making maki at home. My favorite sushi/sashimi has always been saba, but I can't find any DIY recipes online that call for mackerel. Has anyone had any success with this kind of fish at home? I'd like to use fresh/frozen fillets, but I'm open to to the canned kind as well as it is seems fairly easy to come by. I'm also interested in any sort of non-sushi uses for the canned variety (preferably cheap ones as I am a student). I want to give it a go, but have no experience with this ingredient. What makes it taste good?

The mother of all Mother Nature programs premiered in the US this weekend on the Discovery Channel. The 11-part series makes the most of three remarkable camera technologies: shooting in total darkness, counter-vibration stabilizers, and 1000 fps sequences. Here are some clips of: penguins sliding, baboons swimming, and birds of paradise mating. Finally, here's footage from the original BBC version (with the much preferred David Attenborough narrating) that shows, for the first time,a snow leopard hunting in the wild.

There are approximately 77.6 million owned cats in the United States alone. And at least 20 million feral cats. There are many different breeds of cats. A very popular house pet, cats can be quite odd indeed. Cats can be tiny. And cats can be huge. Baby cats are called kittens and are extremely cute. Indoor cats are frequently overfed. But most importantly, cats can be very, very funny.
