This must be the
creepiest tv host ever (possibly NSFW). Perhaps it's a joke, perhaps the guy is sozzled?
That is all.

Embrace the Suck.
Intensive military activity creates an incubator for slang. By bringing together people from geographically diverse backgrounds, putting them into stressful circumstances, and teaching them
a new language of jargon and acronym, the armed forces create fertile ground for new idioms - many of which return home in civvies when the conflicts are over. In the
Civil War,
World War I and
World War II, in
Korea and in
Viet Nam, servicepeople created or popularized now-familiar terms like
shoddy, hotshot, cooties, tailspin, fleabag, face time, joystick, SNAFU, FUBAR, flaky, gung ho, no sweat, flame-out, and many,
many others.
Now, the
GWOT brings us
a new generation of
'milspeak'. Military columnist
Austin Bay has published an early collection of
neologisms from Gulf War II. On NPR,
Bay explains what The Suck is, how to identify a
fobbit, and why Marines look down on the attitude of
Semper I.

The Fonz & Henry Winkler
teach us about sexual abuse. Yes, you read correctly.
Special appearances by John Ritter, Fred Flintstone, and a creepy singing guy in overalls.

HungryFilter: Whenever I am really hungry, I feel/hear the sensation of rain/tiny stones running down the back of my throat. What the hell?

If you thought the video of Neil Armstrong setting foot on the Moon was rather blurry, it might interest you to know that this was never broadcast as well as it could have been. The original video quality was much better. You can't view the original video today, because NASA has
lost the bleepin tape. Nobody seems to care, but the guys who once made the transmission possible are looking for it. An Australian
minister is on their side. If the tape hasn't been accidentally degaussed, there's only one machine left that is able to read it.

is my favorite song from my band's (The Scarring Party) first release. It's a sepia-toned song about the apocalypes

A remake of the same song by Dead or Alive, only much better!
Disclaimer: I was the producer of the album this is off of, not a performer. (MI)

A light-hearted vocal tune/experiment - all sounds are from my own voice, including the potentially craptacular quasi-beatboxing in the middle. Enjoy!

Now in
alpha beta gamma whatever:
MeFi Music. Built in 12 hours with help from
pb, it's still got some rough edges and features to come, but for now you can upload a song you've written and recorded (this isn't for file sharing), stream it from the front page or from
its own page (where you can also leave comments). You can add things to playlists and
stream those too. And
the RSS feed is a podcast you can drag into iTunes to suck down every mp3 that gets posted. I'm sure there are bugs and the color scheme was slapped together in five minutes, but expect to see things ironed out in the next couple weeks and I'll add it to the global nav for all sites when it feels complete. If you have any comments or questions, drop them here.
