The life of a scholar for me?
My story may or may not help you, but I did quit grad school, so here goes.
I was in an analytical chemisty program and I quit at the end of the first year. My BS is in chemical engineering and I don't think I was prepared for the coursework...it was definitely more theoretical than what I was used to. I was frustrated that my options for research weren't practical in the real world.

Vista's entire desktop UI system is built to be rendered on your GPU on your video card instead of through your CPU as it is now.
If you don't have a compatible, DirectX-9 capable GPU, it reverts back to standard 2D window drawing.
