Stairway to Stardom

Staya way do Stah dim - Please...don't....make...it...stop
Apologies if this is old internets...just seeing it for the first time today and was awestruck. A quick search didn't turn up much 'previous'. Happy Autumn!

Bonny Light Horseman

Another song from that Swedish woodshed tape. This I dont know the origin of. But the sentiments again appealed to us. The pain caused by Foreign Wars. Still relevant?

For a' that

An old song. Written by Robert burns in 1795. Recorded by my old acoustic band, The Early Puritans in Sweden 1984 on a radio/cassette player with built in microphones. One take. Found the tape in the woodshed this summer. Lo fi.

Its Just Me

Where to start? I used to be a real drinker. Talking hard core at the local bar on the stool pounding the Crown. I dont anymore I was in a accident and I broke my jaw and rippied off half my nose. Knocked out 9 teeth. Even got the pleasure of a trake hole and jaw wired shut for 6 months. All better now thanks to a wonderful plastic surgen and a good cosmedic dentist. Anyway when I wrote this song many many years ago. I was sober for a pretty good stretch it was around Christmas lots of holidays parties. I went to bed knowing the next day I was goning to drink and enjoy some of the holiday spirit with some booze. This was who I was at that time and this was my way of explaining to myself why I fell off the wagon. Ive aways felt that this was one of my best written songs because it relates to so many such as myself. Sober now life is much better than ever so much time wasted learning to just be me even without the magic liquid I loved. Crown and 7.

Too Late to Sleep

Here's a track for your next narcoleptic dance party. It may be the only song in the world to feature both the Stylophone and the Violin-Uke.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell

The actual title of this song is 「聞いてはいけない、言ってはいけない」, which is pronounced "Kiite wa Ikenai, Itte wa Ikenai". I probably ought to be more out than I am, but I like seeing the reaction of people who don't suspect when I do come out. (Doesn't work on other gay men, though.)

Is it jazz? Listen, bud...

The swingin' sounds of Spider-Man! After years of searching, Kliph Nesteroff found original reels of the incidental music to the classic Ralph Bakshi Spider-Man cartoon, and has included most of the masters in his podcast.

I Wish The Chief Was My Boyfriend

My wifes love for Galen "The Chief" Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica knows no bounds and now it's burst out in song format. She made the words and singing, I made the music. All together now, "I don't care if he's a Cylon, I know he's someone I can rely on..."

What is a good daily diet for someone looking to get cut?

What is a good daily diet for someone looking to get cut? I like routines so I don't care if it's the same for most of the week. In fact I'd rather it be the same so I don't have to really think about it.

March '79 to October '97: One Mans Polaroid Collection

What does a man do during the last 20 years of his life? We learn what every day was like for this unnamed soul who lived through the death of John Lennon, was there for the biggest television experience ever and who saw many presidents inaugurated and witnessed some of them shot.
It might have been because of the holidays or just to fit in but sometime around the early 80's he began smoking. Throught the 90's his health declined and eventually the illness took over.
What must we think about the Star Trek fan with a surreal taste for art and who loved pasta? I'm not sure, but I am certainly thankful for the images.

Imprint, v. 1.1

This first time I presented this song, I made a drastic edit to the melody that turned out to be unsuccessful. Also, my singing sucked.

Toronto: 1977 vs 2007. Shige Sakamoto spent a week in Toronto back in 1977, and took several photographs. Damon Schreiber is retracing Sakamoto's steps, taking photos of the same locations today. He's presenting the photos on his photoblog.

Der Tod und das Mädchen

One of Franz Schubert's finest songs. Recorded, inexpertly, live in a recital I did in Oxford about a year ago with my excellent accompanist Guy.

Staring at My Spaceship

I get to perform this as part of my set at Blip Festival in NYC next week - essentially the Woodstock of chiptunes / 8-bit / video game music.
This was written out of intense affection for my EVE Online playing nerd girl (a soft orchestral arrangement of it is going to be our wedding processional, awww) and was released on 8bitpeoples' 8BP050 compilation CD. I've spruced it up with some orchestration for the show. Come rock with me if you're local -- I'd love to meet my fellow mefimusicians and introduce more people to the chiptune scene. It's pure love and fun.

log

This is an old song, not written for the mefi music challenge water theme, but the lyrics kind of fit, so I decided to upload it. I actually wrote this waltz about having a cold, but it sounds very "oceanic."

Atlantic

This song is about my wife, who was far away at the time. Recorded entirely on an old Tascam 8-track: no ones or zeroes allowed. I'll put a new one up, as well... but I had to upload this one because its so watery. CREDITS: Tyler Massey (that's me): composition, guitar & rubbishy, slightly-out-of-tune vocal; Joel Hatfield: production, bass, & backing vocal; Alex Kendall, drums; Kevin Allison: guitar & backing vocal. 1995.
