Every man's home is his weekend project

Every 3,000 miles, I change the motor oil. But what about the house? I need a home repair and maintenance schedule? I'm looking for the best books and online resources that describe optimum home repair schedules and practices.

I'm starting everybody else's new years' resolution in May... help?

I've just signed up for a gym membership for the first time in my life... Due to metabolism, I'm not fat, but I'm still really out of shape... what should I start with?

Replacing my favorite thesaurus now that it's more "efficient"?

Recommendations for a good, verbose online thesaurus for wandering through words? thesaurus.com seems to have changed how they serve search results and my working style is screwed.

Self-Help Strategies

I’ve just finished reading The Now Habit, an incredibly useful and inspiring book on overcoming procrastination. What’s the best approach to implementing and then retaining the strategies presented in this, or any other, book?

Looking for high-intensity, low-impact, portable exercise.

I want a high intensity, low-impact workout that I can do every single day, indoors, with minimal space requirements. Jumping rope in my apartment lobby is absolutely perfect except that my feet and knees can't do it daily.

Wait! Wait! I've run out of episodes!

I am madly in love with NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. Please recommend similar shows, preferably available via podcast.

3100 flavors of awesome

AskMe is quickly turning into my favorite food resource of all time. It's a vast treasure trove of practical, easy to make recipes and good food-related advice shared by regular folks, not food writers or even, necessarily, hardcore foodies. Can we have a thread consolidating the favorite/most useful recipes and advice AskMe has produced?

Entertain me in print.

I'm looking for a good book to take on a vacation: nothing too heavy, but nothing too brain-dead. (Too heavy=Shake hands with the devil, Guns Germs and Steel, etc. Too brain dead = Shopaholic-type books, drugstore mysteries, etc). I want good writing without having to think too much. Something along the lines of The Corrections or The Time Traveller's Wife would be great.

BookTV

BookTV.org is one the smartest shows on television. Scraping free content from author interviews at local bookstores and book fairs, its new re-designed website is long overdue, and now all content stays available in a permanent archive in case you miss the 48hr C-SPAN2 weekend marathons. Sample programs: The Canon: A Whirligig Tour of the Beautiful Basics of Science, In Depth: Ray Kurzweil,"Blackwater: The Rise Of The World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army"

Shows similar to This American Life?

Listening to This American Life (and motown) keeps me sane at my data entry job. Are there any other podcasts similar to TMI?

my travel mug stinks.

Anyone know how can I make my travel coffee mug not stink of old coffee? I have a fancy, semi-new travel mug made of some almost indestructible hard plastic. It's great, except for the surprisingly strong stink of old coffee and cream, which seems to have permeated it permanently. This is particularly a problem with the soft plastic seal around the lid.
