Rice recipes

I love my sister and my sister loves RICE. Do you have any good recipes for her? Asian--Chinese/Korean/Indian/Pakistani/Thai/etc.--recipes preferred. The rice can be prepared any which way--flavoured, fried, with sauce over plain rice, whatever. (Previously).

The Apologetic for Apologetics? What should the American church be talking about?

What should a Christian church that attracts non-Christians -- and that is interested in being relevant to the world -- be talking about today?

sales-ology for artists

I've been hanging out with my wife and her booth partner at a handmade goods market they sell at each week. It's pretty typical stuff, jewelry, crafts of various kinds. They also go to art festivals on occasion to sell their wares. We've been discussing sales techniques that could help them out. I'm wondering if there is such an animal: sales techniques for the artisan seller?

Great, absorbing books and films showing life in different times and places

I'd like to broaden my horizons by getting a better understanding of life in different cultures and time periods. Please recommend great books or films (fiction or non-fiction) which paint a broad, immersive, reasonably accurate picture of a place and time.

Going beyond the textbook and the Language Lab

What are your favorite online resources for learning, practicing or getting exposure to the languages you speak? I'm looking for things that go beyond a textbook and a couple of CDs: things like interactive tools and study materials, well-written blogs written in / about the language, and especially audio, video or reading materials that people learning the language might not be able to find easily.

Hack My Baby

Give me your baby hacks! My wife and I are expecting our first child in November. What tips and tricks can you offer us to make our lives a lot easier? For example, a friend of mine swears that putting a crying baby in front of a mirror will cause it to stop. Another uses noise cancelling headphones to temper the noise from his shrieking child. I am looking for hacks on everything from diaper changing to stroller modifications. Make our lives easier as we enter into parenthood.

How should I build temporary, attractive walls/dividers on the cheap in my basement?

How should I build temporary, attractive walls/dividers on the cheap in my basement? These paper soft walls look great, are flexible and temporary, but cost a small fortune. Looking for an alternative I could simply and cheaply set up myself to block off a 13'x13' section as a "room". The basement is unfinished, dry, with concrete outer walls and wood joists in the ceiling.

Some are lame, some are funny. But hey, what's your best story ever? (It can't be lamer than Alan Thicke's, can it?)
