I love this idea. I too wondered why they never made lightweight foam (or Nerf) cars and took an elaborate (but inexpensive) bumper-car concept and applied it to daily travel.

There's no logical reason to continue to use extremely thin, expensive, painted sheet metal as the skin or shells for cars. A semi carrying tons of green beans once overturned about 10 miles from my house. My mother came home with dozens of garbage bags full and forced us to snap them for days on end so that she could can them. Light therapy in the mornings is all very well, but what makes camping work for me is the lack of light after sunset as well as the abundance of it at dawn (and the fact that a tent gets uncomfortably hot once the sun has been on it for a few hours). It usually takes me about a week of camping before I'm ready to start my days two hours after sunrise, and if I'm camping in a group and somebody has brought a gas lamp, the resetting doesn't ever really... Get a life-size version of a human skull - set it on your desk facing you and realize this is your future. Prop your list of goals (written on 3x5 card or whatever) up next to it and look at the skull and then your list everytime you sit down at your computer. This should help with motivation and prioritizing. As for a specific system, I'm not sure.
