I disassemble typewriters and then reassemble them into full-scale, anatomically correct human figures. I do not solder, weld, or glue these assemblages together- the process is entirely cold assembly.

Despite having no training whatsoever, I've gradually become 'the IT guy' at work. I want to get organized and begin building a documentation file but I have no idea where to start.

If you were ever in that cave below The Metro in the early 90's, tripping balls, you may know what I was trying to get at in this song. Otherwise, just crank it up and enjoy the ride.

This is aparently a cover of an Ozark Mountain Daredevils song. I am utterly unfamiliar with that band or their version of the song. In college, a firend sang the song to me once, and years later I recorded this from what I could remember. I was trying to do a gospel thing, but the sort of gospel you would hear in that church portrayed in the last scenes of
X: The Man With the X-Ray Eyes.

Playful hip hop song about a typical summer night in Portland with me and my friends. Beats by me (kapn.fülz), mic work by myself and partner on all my rap tracks, Juicy Karkass.

It may be hard to believe, but I didn't listen to the song while singing it. Dirty words in a short song.

Fulfilling two of the Challenges for July: Wildcard (music you hate = techno) and Music (ripped off
James Bond Theme riff). Also, going for the trifecta, it's
a cappella (June's Style Challenge). And it's still July 31st in some parts of the world, so I think this should be allowed in the door.

An old favorite genre of film, and part of every good spy flick, is the Heist, the soundtrack to which always goes like this. This scene from our "movie for the ears" music challenge is described inside.

Sigh...

Nedroid's unofficial theme-song (with official, Nedroid-penned lyrics!)
About five years ago (in the early stage of my mefi lurking) my good buddy,
TheMadJuggler asked me to throw together a little tune for his net-buddy, Nedroid. Here's a pretty faithful version of the song I came up with.
I post this as the last song recorded in my shitty little
Haverhill apartment, as a fan/love letter to a fine cartoonist.

The Clown Walk (also known as the C-Walk) refers to a modern dance style, usually done to hip hop music. It is a variation of the
Crip walk, a gang related dance. Clown Walking, however, was created to distance the relationship between the dance style and the Crips gang.
PimpMyWalk.com is a site where you can learn how to C-Walk.
(language and lyrics NSFW). Step-by-step video instructions teach you how to do
the V, the
shuffle, and when you're really gangsta, the
wiggle walk. More than a dozen tutorial videos plus expert samples.

Jazzy power-punk ballad for those long summer bike rides. I think I meant for this to be soft and sparse, but you know how I do. Could use some help with a new name for this.

Winding their way down from California, they lost a few agents. Two were arrested in Albuquerque after they allegedly forced their way into the home of an elderly couple and beat them to death, raping the wife first.... Then, in West Texas, a van flipped, killing one agent and injuring three others. That's seven agents out of commission. That's about a $2,800 loss per day. After they turn in their cash and receipts, two agents, a pudgy girl and a lanky guy, hit the parking lot for a smoke.... It's a blast, they say. You lie all day to sell subscriptions, and you unwind afterward with some smoke. You tell the customers that you live a few streets over, that you go to the local school and play on the soccer team, that you just sold subscriptions to their neighbor, and the idiots buy it because by now you've got it down to a science.
And on to the next town. And the next.

(
Follow-upFilter) It's rare that jazz videos venture beyond filming live performances. This makes the exceptions all the more notable.
Animation seems the medium of choice: from George Griffin's 1988 paper collage for Charlie Parker's "
Ko Ko" to Len Lye's swinging
The Lambeth Walk (1939), or (stretching musical definitions just a bit) his 1958 masterpiece "
Free Radicals". More recent jazz seems to fit just as well: witness Lung's psychotic piece for Ladyscraper's "
Thou Art Fucking Dead".

I love mayonnaise. I just
loooooooove mayonnaise. I love it on burgers, on sandwiches, and in deviled eggs. I love it in tuna salad, egg salad, and potato salad. I
may have, on occasion, eaten it by itself, but I admit nothing. But what other dishes highlight the diversity and deliciousness of mayonnaise? What can I do to up my mayonnaise quotient? What are your favorite mayonnaise recipes? Is there such a thing as gourmet mayonnaise? Can I find high-class, fancy mayonnaise created by mayonnaise connoissiers? I want to expand my mayonnaise horizons!

A few days ago a
post appeared on the Something Awful forums noting a curious website called
Notes to Mary. The notes are a series of threatening letters from a high schooler named Robert to his crush, Mary. The goons figured out pretty quickly that they had an
ARG on their hands and went to work on solving the puzzle.
Several other forums picked up on the game. Robert began interacting with players, sending them strange messages and several series of numbers that appeared to be some sort of code. A
Flickr pool was started. Players even created an IRC channel to swap clues and information in real time. The Notes to Mary site offered a link to a login. All effort was made to crack the user/pass combo. Finally, several days after the game began, users were finally able to log in. The game was solved. The players would be rewarded for their hard work. Where did the login lead?
Here.

Do you enjoy classic 2D platformers? Then boy, are you in luck! The
indie game community is thriving, and a good majority of its games are exactly that. I've spent many hours playing these unique, beautiful, and often exceptional projects, and there's quite a few - more than I can count on my fingers! - that could stand toe-to-toe with the finest contemporary games. Inside is a list of some of the greatest indie platformers, based on community recommendations and my own experience. Enjoy!
