Fan-diddly-damn-tastic!

Fan-diddly-damn-tastic! The whirly-twirly-leapy-flippy world of nonce words. When something is crappy, do you ever yearn for synonyms such as crapitudinous, crapfestacular, and craposcopic? (via ADS-L)

Are You Gonna Go My Way

A few days ago I had a vision that my band did a cover of Are You Gonna Go My Way. Then my band did a cover of Are You Gonna Go My Way. This is that cover.

Here he stands. He could not do otherwise. God help him.

"...aside from the Devil, you have no enemy more venomous, more desperate, more bitter, than a true Jew... What shall we Christians do with this rejected and condemned people, the Jews? Since they live among us, we dare not tolerate their conduct, now that we are aware of their lying and reviling and blaspheming.... First, to set fire to their synagogues or schools and to bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them. This is to be done in honor of our Lord and of Christendom, so that God might see that we are Christians.... Second, I advise that their houses also be razed and destroyed.... Third, I advise that all their prayer books and Talmudic writings, in which such idolatry, lies, cursing and blasphemy are taught, be taken from them.... Fourth, I advise that their rabbis be forbidden to teach henceforth on pain of loss of life and limb." -- From On the Jews and Their Lies, authored by the man voted by his countrymen the second greatest German of all time, the theologian whose break with Rome began the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther.

It's just the grill... the grill... the grill you want

Claiming "complete rip-off" of their iconic image and sound, Devo are suing McDonald's over the "New Wave Nigel" included with the American Idol Happy Meal. See the video of Nigel in action. "They didn't ask us anything," Gerard Casale told Australian Associated Press. "Plus, we don't like McDonald's, and we don't like American Idol, so we're doubly offended."

Galleries of awesome pure CSS web designs using no/few images?

I'm looking for a showcase/inspiration gallery of imageless (or at least minimal graphics) pure CSS web designs. I figured this would totally have been done as a "Top X" list somewhere, but it doesn't seem to exist. Not necessarily "minimalist" design, but what can be done with great colour, layout, typography, and clever CSS.

This is the first thing I've recorded in awhile. It's a song about Christmas that I wrote for Surfjam Stevens. I recorded it in my bedroom with a little help from my friends.

How do I get ubuntu to recognize my monitor's proper resolution again?

During the Ubuntu install process (text-based), it asked what screen resolutions I would like X not to include. Not thinking, I selected my preferred resolution (1280x1024, the most my monitor can handle) and hit continue. Now I can't use that resolution in my finished install, as it's not on the list in the Screen Resolutions system panel. How do I recover that possibility? Thanks!

Mathowie's Community Blog

This song is called mathowie's community blog, and it's about mathowie, and the community blog, but mathowie's community blog is not the name of the community blog, that's just the name of the song. - lyrical brilliance by It's Raining Florence Henderson, with extra bits of artistic license taken in the studio. - Arlo-esque lead vocals by French Fry, aka Alex Millard, aka my brother.

Deck The Halls

A great arrangement of a classic tune by the Sovereign Brass, an all-brass quintet, which was an impromptu thing between my friends and I to spread some Christmas cheer and create a few new arrangements of some old chestnuts.

Snacksby: A Recipe Site I got tired of not being able to tell a cooking site "Hey! I've got two onions, 4 eggs, a loaf of bread and some mayo. What can I make?", so I made one that would listen. Snacksby can learn about substitutions and new measurements, and since it's after 1997 it's got things like tagging and rating (and rounded borders!)
