If you like it so much why don't you go live there?
I'm with ethnomethodologist and oneirodynia. I've heard worse (unfortunately) in my own neck of the woods. I like the idea of the site, but I think there's better examples of xenophobia and racism out there than the comments printed here.

sometimes i wish there was a site where people posting idiotic pap were personally emailed written responses detailing their stupidity and giving them some homework to become less of an infectious cloud of stupid online.

Mind the Gap
This guy just wants us to accept base motives as best practice. If we let this country fall prey to what naturally arises from our unfettered behavior, we will become a nation obsessed with hoarding money and war.
Oh, wait.

Power-playing co-worker
I don't know how she'll react to this, but maybe the next time she says "come see me" reply with something like "I'm going to be busy all morning, but if you stop by my desk we can discuss x." Or some variant.
Basically, make it so that if she needs to see you, she should come to your desk (and, likewise, you will go to her when you need to see her). If subtle things don't work, I would flat out tell her that "as we are... [more]

Strange noise emanating from woman
"Hey, did you hear that?"
"No, what?"
"Oh, it sounded like a vibrating noise, really close to you."
"Oh, that's my ________ I'm used to it. No need to worry."
"Ah, thanks for clearing that up."

Spare the rod and how to love a child to death
"And lo, then it came to pass that Jesus said unto them: When thy daughter cannot runneth the race, ye shall tie her to an oxcart and draggeth her as punishment, as ye doeth with thy Africans, for yea, verily do I despiseth the children of the poor." (Texas Jesus 4:12)

I'm pretty sure "drag a teenager behind a van" is not on the "What Would Jesus Do?" list.

Unemployment is 4.6%
This number ignores those who have exhausted their unemployment benefits, those who've given up on the system altogether as well as those who are underemployed with no benefits correct? That was a new twist on the unemployment numbers instituted by Karl Rove. Also back in the 80's when someone was "employed" it was more likely a job that had benefits and could support a family as opposed to stocking shelves in Walmart... [more]

J&J Sues Red Cross
The Red Cross sells stuff commercially? Wow. I don't blame J&J for being seriously annoyed. When the head guy is making over $500k a year, you have to wonder how much is going toward the "non-profit relief services" these days.

Sue me, but I sympathize.
I live in one of the cheapest countries in the world doing work that pays me a salary well above the local average. Other than the housing market, nothing's expensive in Beijing, and anything below a car-level purchase is far more than affordable.
Not going off the rails on a spending spree is hard enough. I mean, I could go out tomorrow and have a new laptop. Lots of people tell me to, because this one's 4 years... [more]

The Unerotic Internet
I think we may soon find ourselves longing for the days when porn was produced by *professional* amoral expoiters of women.
I disagree. The crap that Vivid and other large companies peddle is inauthentic and utterly boring. At least the amateur stuff you find on YouPorn and RedTube features real people with real bodies having real sex.
Sure, most of the images resemble clinical gynecology, but finding good porn is a lot like... [more]

If you can't sort things out when you have a personal assistant and for all intents and purposes an infinite line of credit you can suck my salty ones. Stop taking coke/crack/pills you fucking morons and stop smashing up cars that cost more than I will ever have in my life.

Well, at work today I think I heard about Lohan around 40 times from the radio and TV in the breakroom. It was tragic just how much airtime that was being devoted to it.
She used to be much hotter, imho, when she had more flesh on her bones.

Hey Firas - I didn't have electricity, running water or light or anything else like that about a week ago. I've been so poor that I've lost over 30lbs in a month because I couldn't afford to eat. I had three guys bust into my house with knives earlier that week and I have two pairs of shoes to my name. So thanks and all, but no, you're wrong. The difference between me and these fucking idiots is that when I screw up something awful it's me who suffers. These shitheels have enough lawyers and... [more]

“Exactly. It stays.”
Why don't you just do your jobs and delete the fucking things. The post has been flagged many times, none of you admins like it, a great many mefites hate it—but you leave it up because you can't be bothered to delete new Paris posts as they arrive. Because deleting a post is time-intensive? It's real hard work?

East German Commercials
I did a few gigs back in the old East Germany, in the 80's. I have a few related stories, so here's one:
We (Elliott Sharp, Ned Rothenberg and I) were playing a show in Leipzig. We arrived in the town in the morning, and were met by the promoter, who paid us our fee, in full, right upon arrival. This is an unusual practice: 99% of the time we'd get our guarantee after playing. Why were we paid up front and so soon? Well, it was something of a standard... [more]

Kids and Spicy Food
Kids in Ghana don't dislike spicy food. I know kids as young as 2 that eat habanero based sauces without batting an eyelid... so i second the notion that it's not universal.
