I want to know how much danger I'm in.

Are there online resources that will tell me what kind of plants, animals, and insects are in any given US state that could kill me?

How do I kill the perfectionism, the precious and fearful impulses, and the self-doubt that keeps me from completing my creative writing projects.

You're so smart you probably think this post is about you

"You're really smart!" Psychologist Carol Dweck says that praising a child for being smart only teaches the kid to avoid any effort that might fail. "When we praise children for their intelligence, we tell them that this is the name of the game: Look smart, don't risk making mistakes." Malcolm Gladwell chimes in with his thoughts on the importance of being a smart kid, "What a gifted child is, in many ways, is a gifted learner. And what a gifted adult is, is a gifted doer. And those are quite separate domains of achievement."

Dating for the relatively grounded?

I know a great deal about how romantic relationships develop with insecure people, but very little about what happens when the participants are already comfortable in their own shoes.

Co-op shooters/FPSes?

My sister loves playing co-op shooters. Can you recommend any? Our systems are the PS2, and a PC running Windows XP that was middle-of-the-road 3-5 years ago (so no Army of Two, thank you). Freeware/shareware/indie are great, but so are huge blockbusters. It just needs to have as long, good, co-op section.

Driving across country where to stay (no hotels).

I'm driving across country in a month (Oregon to NY). I drove out here 2 years ago and stayed in hotels both nights on the way out. I don't have the funds to do that this time around. Any advice about sleeping in my car at rest areas? I'm trying to marathon it and camping would probably slow me down more than I'd like.

Galleries of awesome pure CSS web designs using no/few images?

I'm looking for a showcase/inspiration gallery of imageless (or at least minimal graphics) pure CSS web designs. I figured this would totally have been done as a "Top X" list somewhere, but it doesn't seem to exist. Not necessarily "minimalist" design, but what can be done with great colour, layout, typography, and clever CSS.

Any autograph experts in the house?

Last week in DC, I was at a hotel and happened to bump into actor Terrence Howard. I'm very good with faces, this was most definitely him. He was kind enough to sign an autograph for me but when I looked at it I couldn't recognize his name there at all. Finally I flipped the page over and saw that the reversed image reads "Terry Howard". I'm just curious as to whether he does that with his signature very often? Are there other celebrities who sign backwards? Seems like an odd but amusing affectation.

Found a hidden webcam at work

Hey all, long time listener, first time caller. So... um. Yea. Yesterday while at work I leaned back in my chair and stuck my foot up in the corner of the underside of my desk. I felt something funny and leaned down to check it out.... somebody installed a webcam pointed at my crotch. Yay.
