100 essential jazz albums. What is the most expedient and economical way I can buy all 100 albums?

Let's say you're putting together a mix of your favorite
obscure 1990s pop/rock music. What are the top couple of tracks you'd be sure to include?

My mom and my brother are looking for a simple, solid online backup solution for their Windows XP computers.
I know that there are sites like
Carbonite,
Mozy, and
Crashplan. What I don't know is how good or simple any of these sites are or if there are others that are better that I just don't know about.
Also, how heavily does the background services these site's software install impact system performance?

I'm looking for a source of "artsy" modern postcards, preferably via web. Graffiti-styled, abstract, you name it. It just has to be visually interesting and around $1 per card.

I'm a single guy living alone. I need to start cooking for myself because I spend too much money on food, and most of what I eat is kinda bad for me. However, I hate doing dishes and don't have much time to cook. What foods/recipes would you suggest?

NPR or PRI story- About a year ago, I heard a story in which the narrator was attempting to find his long lost baby sitter- a woman named Susan or Sharon?! It seemed like a TAL type story but I don't believe it was Ira Glass.
Sadly I missed the ending and have been searching for it ever since. Has anyone heard of the story?

Blackboards
were wiped after use: they were meant for immediate communication, not for record. Even as they were being used, their messages were continuously revised, erased and renewed. But when Einstein came to Oxford in 1931, he was already an international celebrity. After one of his lectures a blackboard was preserved and has become a kind of relic. It is the most famous object in this Museum.

I’ve seen men in fur suits masturbating on stuffed animals. I’ve seen high heels stepping on snails. I’ve seen women farting on birthday cakes. I’ve seen guys wearing white socks in two inches of water in the bathtub. I’ve seen a tutorial on how to jack-off with a pair of Keds. And I’ve seen some weird stuff, too. Isn’t there a line of some kind, where it just stops being sexy to anyone? And the answer it seems, is no.... Because there is
sexually explicit salmon hentai. NSFW.

Is it in bad form to ask an author directly via email for an electronic copy of a dissertation or non-refereed academic article, if I, as a student, have no other method of access to the resources?

The word "re" means "with regard to" according to Webster's Collegiate. As in "I spoke to you last week re the Smith/Yablonsky matter, and you said ...."
Why do many people insert an unnecessary colon after this word, even when it's in the middle of a sentence? As in "I spoke to you last week re: the Smith/Yablonsky ...." Those extra colons really whack readability, especially when there's more than one.

I do a little podcast that about ten people listen to. I just play a few songs and do intros for them. What I want to know is how do I find out if I am required to pay anybody to use their songs. Should I bother or just depend on being so small time that I don't have to worry about it?
Also, what's a good piece of software for mixing my between song patter and my music? Right now I am using the software that comes with Nero.

Would you ever mix lemon sorbet into a glass of Guinness?
With the help of a small red berry called miracle fruit, that's just what one woman did
at a rooftop party in Long Island City, Queens, last Friday night. The berry rewires the way the palate perceives sour flavors for an hour or so, rendering lemons as sweet as candy.

True Romance: 15 years later.
Maxim article (hence slightly NSFW ads) with interviews with Christian Slater, Tony Scott, Quinten Tarantino, etc. If you're a fan of behind-the-scenes gossip, or the film -- or both -- it's an interesting read.
