How do I practice law?
Okay, law librarian here, and I'm chiming in not only because I've helped out a number of folks in your situation, but also because at least a few others here have suggested you come visit one of my colleagues out in sunny Southern California. Before you do, please know a few basic things.
Mis-filing or other errors in your service of notice can fatally damage even the most meritorious of claims. Since some of your claims allege fairly serious harm, the first thing... [more]

Funny, I was going to switch your two examples. Crappy third-party apps aren't really Facebook's fault.

Why is Apache not listing any files in an open directory?
To be clear, removing IndexIgnore should fix the problem. If you want to not list indexes in other directories, you should replace "IndexIgnore *" with "Options -Indexes". This should cause "Options +Indexes" to work on subdirectories (this should be put in an .htaccess file in opml_archive). I haven't tested any of this.

Seriously this was a really good sandwich.
Okay. But this isn't just a sandwich. It's a sensory experience. You must follow the recipe to get the total effect.
Firstly, I used Ploughman's Dark Soft Wheat & Rye Bread. It's a local one, but It's fairly dark in colour, has a thin but meaty crust and no bits-of-oat nonsense. It's still quite fluffy for a dark bread, but it has a rough texture especially on the crust which is crucial for the contrast.
I used Oliviani olive spread, you... [more]

This could be kind of cool if you could hook it up to the Back and Forward buttons on your browser. So whatever page you're on now, you could peel from the left side and see the page you were just at. Looks like this guy's already done the hard part - now you just need to hook it up the the cache.

To be fair to mahagonyslide, there's no identifying information in his profile. Also, a lawyer would have charged him $1000 at least to write a letter.
No worries, mahogonyslide, if the letter doesn't get them off your back then you consult a lawyer. Usually, they send these out to scare people and they certainly achieved their goal.
BTW ... in the future DON'T ADMIT TO ANYTHING in a letter to a lawyer. That was your real mistake.... [more]

An unbiased, informative site for heated issues
ProCon.org claims to be an unbiased source for facts about issue. But after looking through a lot of the site, it suffers from exactly the same problem as I pointed out in the recent thread about journalism; namely, presenting one person from either side of an issue or fact without endeavoring to determine which party is correct is not helpful and, frankly, isn't even all that unbiased.

I'm always suspicious of sites like this, having been taken in by some in the past, so I always go snoop around now. I usually expect them to be some kind of Republican front with a hidden agenda slicked over, ultimately trying to sell something slimy. That doesn't appear to be the case here. Could even be the opposite. Who knows, but I just like to know who's paying and what their motivations are if I'm going to read a word of whatever they're saying. Iridic Lovecraftian? Perhaps, but I associate H.P.'s style with vast, paranatural, ahuman presences. The horror here is different, I think; it's psychological, suggestive, as personal as the individualized silhouettes in the rock. The threat here is not that of a malevolent presence, but of a hole, of an absence - of the grave prepared for you long before your birth, and the inescapable fate that forces you into it.

Yes. Okay, the first problem is that you will believe that the other person you are seeing is you basically. The person mirrors everything you do exactly, so you would think it were you. However, IF you were prepped before hand that the thing you see in there is someone completely different, then you can figure out how to talk. You know why? Because of free will. Because of the ability our brain has to randomize perfectly symmetrical experiences.

What to do about property manager's false accusations?
Please do not withhold rent. That is a violation of your lease and can result in a legitimate eviction. As a general matter of course, never withhold rent without discussing the matter with a lawyer. You could be entirely in the right and still end up on the street.
As for an answer to your question, I agree with Brockles. This is possible defamation of character and should be dealt with as such.
