jazz attack!

Some time ago The New Yorker published a list of 100 essential jazz albums. What is the most expedient and economical way I can buy all 100 albums?

Before the rattlesnakes wake up.

I would't kill them if I didn't have grandchildren and dogs.

The Dalai Lama talks with neuroscientist about craving, suffering and choice

Traveling a lot this weekend? Long drive, plane or train ride? You can use that transit time to listen to the Dalai Lama talk for more than four hours with neuroscientists and Buddhist scholars on the topic of craving, suffering and choice. Part one. Part two. [iTunes links] If you're stuck at home, you can watch the video. The video link has the full list of participants.

It is no small labor to rescue all mankind, every mother's son

The MacArthur Foundation awarded its "genius" grants yesterday. Among the winners was Jonathan Shay, a a VA psychiatrist whose midlife discovery of the Homeric epics inspired him to use their depictions of soldier bonding and cohesion, leadership, trust and betrayal, and terror and rage to treat the psychological disorders and transition difficulties of combat veterans. Dana Gioia says, "I don't think that Americans were smarter then, but American culture was."

Fifty years ago, I suspect that along with Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, and Sandy Koufax, most Americans could have named, at the very least, Robert Frost, Carl Sandburg, Arthur Miller, Thornton Wilder, Georgia O'Keeffe, Leonard Bernstein, Leontyne Price, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Not to mention scientists and thinkers like Linus Pauling, Jonas Salk, Rachel Carson, Margaret Mead, and especially Dr. Alfred Kinsey.

Chinese calligraphy question

I've bought a couple pieces of Chinese calligraphy in recent years and have been wondering what the characters on them mean/represent. Can someone here fluent in Chinese or just knowledgeable about Chinese calligraphy give me a decent translation of each? (Sorry about the frame glass glare in the first picture.) Thanks! http://tinyurl.com/38movo http://tinyurl.com/2nvc66

It's...so...FRUSTRATING

Can you get to seven in this puzzle using clues hidden in the text, images, HTML and CSS? If you can get to the seventh page, can you get to fourteen? How about get to 28?
