So we've had about 6 inches of rain in the past 3 days, and I think I need to buy an umbrella.

What podcasts do you listen to? I'm on the hunt for some new podcasts to keep me entertained on the slowing-becoming-dreary-as-the-weather-turns walk to work.

Looking for a region-free (or region-free-able) DVD player with upconvert for $100 US. I'd also just like to go to Best Buy or wherever (in the US) and pick it up this weekend. Ideas?

I need a good time suck. Recommend free games, either online or downloadable? I loved
Dwarf Complete. Something like that would be ideal.
WinXP, by the way.

I've just started dating someone who studies serious hardcore applied math. I am a complete and utter math idiot who is lost at anything above multiplication tables. I would like to sort of understand what is going on inside his massive, beautiful brain. Help?

The world (and universe) is an incredible place, as I've learned from awesome series such as Planet Earth and the Universe. What are some other high-quality mindblowing box sets? Or even just a single eye-opening documentary? I just want to watch something and leave with the sensation of, wow, the world is a crazy/amazing place.

Where to go bra shopping in Vancouver BC? My wife hates bra shopping. The only place she's really liked was a lesbian-run lingerie store in western Massachusetts, where the staff could always point her to a perfect, practical, comfortable bra of whatever kind she needed at the time (e.g. it's the only place she's ever been able to find a truly comfortable bra for horseback riding). Unfortunately, we're a long way from MA now. Any suggestions for such places in Vancouver? Suggestions in Victoria BC also welcome.

an online high-school course on
Douglas Hofstadter's much-loved 1980 Pulitzer-winning exploration of maths, patterns, music, art, recursion, and computability,
Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid. Previously, some here had indicated
an interest in such a course.

I'm a web app programmer lacking good project/time management skills, and I'm not really in the best environment to pick them up. I'm OK at the lower-level tasks like daily to-do lists, but how can I learn to handle higher-level tasks like estimating time, prioritizing, and planning project life cycles?

I am currently on the South Beach diet (Phase 1, one week into it, please do not reply if you are going to criticize). I am not following their meal plans because they are overly complicated and in many cases require ingredients that I can't get here in this small town. If you've got very simple filling recipes that would qualify for Phase 1 and 2 (please specify which), I would really appreciate hearing them!
