Creep me out, literally

Recommend some books/collections of short stories or even poetry I would like if I am looking for some disturbing reads. I mean the kind of horror/thriller/sci-fi/fantasy/creepy stories that stick in your head for days after you read them causing you to think about them over and over or leave you too scared to turn off your bedroom lights and go to sleep.

So what's inside areas that are closed off to the public, in buildings?

Someday she'll come along, the purse I love

Please help me find a purse that is well-made enough to last being used every day for years, good-looking enough that I'll want to, that costs less than $200 (preferably closer to $100) and meets my requirements detailed within.

Voices you either love or hate...

I like singers with strange voices. I don't like novelty songs (e.g. Betty Boop) and I don't like "songs" that are so avant-garde that they're basically noise (e.g. someone screaming into a microphone). So I'm not looking for strange music. I'm looking for traditional (melodic) music sung by singers with non-traditional singing voices. Examples of what I like: Joanna Newsom, Leon Redbone, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Elaine Stritch.

Dog Experts, I Need You. *So* Much.

I need advice from people who are great at understanding canine behavior and solving related issues for what is a rather thorny (and potentially tragic, dog-health-wise) situation for this inexperienced dog owner. I'll make it brief, then tell the (much, much) longer story inside. We have a new rescue dog (our first dog; female, a little under 2 years old) who is just now beginning to feel really at ease and at home after being with us for a month, and all our efforts towards house training have finally paid off, and she is doing beautifully... But, we are going to have to take care of a friend's un-neutered young male dog for two-four weeks in our small apartment, and there are very many things that worry me a great deal, and I really need good advice. Nearly full explanation follows, and it's very long - so sorry! - but it's important stuff to me. Bear with, if at all possible.

What to write in people's birthday cards?

As the fourth "collectively-signed birthday card for a colleague" this week passed my desk today I realised that I just couldn't come up with anything clever, trite, humourous, etc. to say....

How can I alleviate a tight neck and back area?

The left side of my upper back and neck are consistently crick-y, cracky and tight. Once in a while it's painful, but at all hours of the day, I can stretch the muscles and bones in the area and get some clicky sounds. Can you recommend ways that I can alleviate this?

How To Learn Psychology

I have an interest in psychology that I'd like to explore further, but I'm not really sure how to start. I can't say I know much about the field of psychology. I'd like to explore alternatives to taking classes at the local community college (I'm not looking for a degree), but I'd definitely like to understand the mind more. Some books I've enjoyed reading: Prozac Nation, Paradox of Choice, Stumbling on Happiness.

The folks at DNR Productions and Clay Robeson...

3 Days Later: Jesus Christ Zombie Lord The folks at DNR Productions and Clay Robeson Creative (that's me) have set out to create the world's first (we hope) Zombie Rock Opera. A song for song parody of Jesus Christ Superstar, 3 Days Later: Jesus Christ Zombie Lord take the "Zombie Jesus" thing to a whole new level. At this point, we've shot a teaser for what we want to produce in order to try to raise some funding to shoot the entire movie this summer. But of course, no studio in their right mind would touch this with a 100 foot pole, so we have to self finance by pan handling on the internets. So go watch the teaser. If you like it, watch the LONG version of the teaser. If we still haven't made you want to hunt us down and kill us, tell your friends, and consider giving us a dollar so we can bring this baby to life.... er back to life?

You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt.

Blooming is booming. Whether you prefer DIY or professionals, knowing what to plant and when can be daunting...unless you've got some really excellent websites on your side. And you do! Plantwire will help you find plants through conventional search, tags, or even by colour. Fine Gardening Magazine's site has much to offer: how-to section with videos, design ideas, and a fabulous plant guide. Garden Simply can help you achieve sustainable, organic gardening. Garden and Flower has several convenient guides on how to achieve gardening nirvana - including butterfly garden essentials!

I have no original ideas! Help!

I need to recultivate my artsy hobbies, most specifically my writing and drawing. The problem is that I can't seem to initiate anything - I have no new ideas, nothing to work on. I'd also like to grow as a writer, but I'm my own worst critic and stop before I start (fear of failure and whatnot) - I'd like to hone my skills but I'm petrified of, well, sucking.

Corporate Rockstar

How do I become a cubicle king and a boardroom baron? How do I become a corporate rockstar? I am in a typical corporate office environment and am wondering why certain people climb the corporate ladder and others do not. What techniques and tactics have you personally applied to move ahead? I am looking for things related to work ethic, communication, self-promotion, appearance, relationships, use of technology, methodology, GTD, etc. Do you send emails late at night to appear to be working late? Do you suck-up to the CEO's personal assistant? Or do you simply work your ass off and get sh*t done? Take me from the mailroom to the boardroom.

Books like "The Name of the Rose" and "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell"?

Could you recommend books similar to The Name of the Rose and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell? There's something about the tone, the mashing of genres together, and the over-immersion in details that is unbelievably appealing to me. (But don't recommend Tolkien!)

A Boy, His Dog, and Their Descent Into Madness

On public access TV in Seattle a preacher named Bruce Howard rambled each week for twenty five minutes about love and hope. He would then abruptly burst into song (some covers, some original) and lavish affection onto his pug, BUSTER LOVE! We watched at first to mock, and then grew to genuinely like him. But sometime between then and now he seems to have gone mad (last two links nsfw-ish).
