You won't find
Donkeyskin in many modern fairy-tale anthologies, perhaps because it concerns a girl so beautiful that her own father wanted to marry her. But don't worry, she dresses up as a donkey and escapes! Made famous by Charles Perrault, the story has
many variants--Catskin, Allerleirauh, Thousandfurs, The She-Bear, All Kinds of Fur--and has been subject to many
interpretations. The tale was illustrated by several of the great gift-book illustrators, including
Arthur Rackham,
Kay Nielsen,
Gustave Doré, and the less well-known
R. de la Neziere. (More R. de la Neziere
here and
here.) Oh, and here's a
sexy one.

My SO and I have unique (it seems) taste in dishware. We'd like something that is modern, not monochromatic, and more interesting than just a colored outer ring. We'd like a geometric design in a 16-pc set. Ideally, the dishes would be available from a national retailer in the U.S. so we can add them to our wedding registry.
Here is an example of what we like. The example is no longer available for sale. Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

A couple of months ago, I read an article about a very rare illness primarily affecting men which caused them, among other things, to hurt themselves - sometimes quite seriously. Does anyone know the name of this disorder?

The other day I happened to come upon a music video that is just so grooving, so human and so
real, that, well, it
moved me, darling.
Just check it out. After watching the clip, I learned that these guys are mostly disabled by polio (that's why several of them are in those rather unusual wheelchairs) and that they were living on the grounds of the Kinshasa zoo, which is where the clip was filmed. Then I learned that last year they were seeking to bring
a lawsuit against the UN. Then I found
some other clips. And now I am a
major fan of
Staff Benda Bilili.

I'm going to college soon. (Age 24; been working a desk job in health care since I was 18.) I've got an inkling I want to study biology. Recommend me some books to help me get the lay of the land and get fired up about this.

I'm a child of the '80s, and I loved the '80s. However, I didn't develop a sense of good taste until about 1994, and as a result my pop-culture radar is completely jammed with crappy cartoons designed to sell toys, cereal commercials, and Ewoks. Can you recommend
totally awesome movies/TV shows/etc. that will satisfy my '80s nostalgia, but are good enough to watch today?

I have pretty much watched all of the videos on TED.com and I am looking for another source to waste time online - but at least feel smarter at the end.;) I am not looking so much for online classes/courses (MIT and other), but more "bit size" hour long or so talks/lectures. Thanks for your help!

Scientists: What's the best and simplest way to organize, annotate, and take notes from scientific journal articles on a PC? I'm starting a new project and ready for a new system that doesn't require four programs or being unable to find something when I can't remember the title or author. How do you organize your references, pdfs, and notes?

What if the Devil tricked a well-meaning computer developer into making a horrendous animal racing game?
(cringeworthy YouTube link) Now we know! Yes,
Cougar Interactive has a product for you. Zoo Race! The biblical flood is over, and with hardly any people around, what's Noah, God, and the animals gonna do? Why, RACE of course! The game features compelling voice work, top flight graphics, and of course...
animals straddling on rockets. And to top it all off, God is the announcer! It was the best 2007 had to offer, and it's still available... so, like their web site says..
Buy the FUN game that the big game companies would not ever make. (as found at
Kotaku)
