Why deleted?
My answer deleted. Please explain why.
You need to use complete sentences. "My answer deleted" isn't one, and "please explain why" is barely a fragment, and "new man" is such a throwaway answer that you're actually here debating why it got deleted?
Typing like this makes you sound like an idiot. No, I'm not calling you an idiot. It just makes you sound like an idiot, like you're the head idiot... [more]

Has the Internet changed how you have sex?
I'm really dating myself here, but what the heck; I remember sex and porn before the home VCR, much less the Internet, if you can believe that. The first "porn" I saw personally was Playboy magazine, which was pretty risque for 1965 Kansas, where I was growing up. The first moving picture porn I saw was a Super 8mm stag film a friend of mine's brother had gotten for a bachelor party, that I saw in the fall of 1968. It was grainy and badly photographed, but it had... [more]

RIP Ayveq
Here you go, maxwelton! (Sung to the tune of Pinball Wizard)
♫ Ever since he was a young pup
He played with both his balls
From Alaska to Manhattan
He was observed by all
Whippin' out his willy
While swimmin' in his tank
That 2700-pound walrus
Sure does love to wank
He swims up to the windows
Rolls over on his back
Then... [more]

How do i stop running away?
I've always been chronically lazy. I've never felt the sense of dread you talk about, but I always just kind of thought I could coast through life on the basis of my intelligence without putting in any real work. But lately I've came up with a sort of mental framework that's helped me be more productive on things I actually care about.
One is start valuing effort rather then ideas. Everyone comes up with great ideas (at least every once in a while) Most people think... [more]

A bottle of vodka?
I'm going to go ahead and say not even close. The thing is, you either 1) don't know enough about what parts to buy that he had to go and buy them for you, taking him from the "friendly counsel" range into full on professional assistance, or 2) he is your buddy and you just made him do your bitchwork of driving to the store because...why?
No, the next night you all go out, you need to buy his drinks/food for the entirity of the night. And you're still making out ahead.

Creepy Dutch TV Host + Paedophilia Thread.
Just quit with the "Fixed that for you" crap already, would you all?
It's not witty. It's annoyingly passive-aggressive and makes you look like the kind of person that still goes "neener neener!" and "la-la-la I can't HEEEEAR you!!" during arguments.

Suffer the complainers in MeTa.
Newsfilteriness aside, these yawn-type comments are a pain in the ass.
They're rarely made 50+ comments into a thread. Just as in this one, they made people who find the topic interesting go on the defensive.
If a new thread bores you, don't read it. If it bores you so much that you think it's a bad post, flag it. If enough other people have also flagged it, or if the mods agree with you, it'll be deleted. If you're in the minority, then the... [more]

The Hillsong Church
warehouse churches
Another excellent and appropriate term. Prepackaged bulk verisimilitude, sold in case lots to greedy herds of consumers, who happily shell out the bucks because, hey!, quantity is eversomuch better than quality!
The most stunning thing to me is that so much of the red-letter Jesus advocates against this form of religion. How the hell do these people think they're... [more]

A statistical study of more than 300,000 car loans...
Rules for buying a car.
1) Know as much about the cars you're interested in before you go see them, including dealer invoice for every trim level and options. (Having this info on your Palm is good.)
2) Reject any charges added by the dealer. For example, many dealers add an extra charge for rustproofing. Cars are rustproofed at the factory and do not need the fifty cents' worth of additional chemicals the dealer squirts on them, especially not... [more]

Is it me or is it you?
Wow. On preview, I didn't realize I'd be this far in the minority on this one. The thing is, my wife and I spent the first six months of our relationship fighting just like this. We stopped, and I'm sure we wouldn't be together if we hadn't — but it's totally possible for the two of you to stop too. Some of that will involve change on your girlfriend's part, and if she refuses to change there might not be a future for you two, but I can't speak to that. What I can tell... [more]

Getting many projects done
It depends on the kind of work.
If the projects are relatively independent, the best thing to do is to not multitask, but do one after the other.
Consider three projects, A, B and C. They each will take 10 days.
AAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBCCCCCCCCCC
If you do them one after the other, A will be complete on day 11, B on day 21 and C on day 31.
Suppose you decide to alternate 5 day... [more]

How do they make them shows on the teevee?
Television shows have a document they call a "bible" which is an outline for the entire season (or sometimes the entire series). You need at least a general outline of a bible to sell a series, though that initial document often changes in execution. Though they employ many writers, the showrunner, an executive producer-writer, is responsible for the creative vision and voice of the show. Some showrunners have a very distinctive voice - writers like Aaron Sorkin and David Milch come to... [more]
