Resource for evaluating past stock recommendations?

Is there anyone (especially online) who's collected reasonably well-informed stock picks from, say, 2, 5, or 15 years ago and explained why the recommendations did or did not work out?

Toystore and Bookstore in Tokyo?

I am in Tokyo as we speak, on business for two more days. I am in the Kayobacho district, one metro stop away from Ginza... though Saturday will see me taking an early train to Kamakura. I am looking for two things: an amazing toy store and an amazing bookstore. Suggestions?

Accuracy (or lack thereof) in the yen-to-dollar rate.

Japan Filter

I will be staying in Japan for a week before I go to S.Korea and would like some recommendations of things to do and places to stay. I will be landing in Narita; however, it seems better to go to Tokyo once I land. I am a student and can't afford too much; therefore, I am looking for some cheaper places that I can sleep and store my bags while I wander around. Also, I will be there August 19th until August 26th -- are there any events happening? Is there anything to be careful of? Anyone know of any good websites or forums that I could check out before I go? I really want to make the best of this trip, yet it's quite intimidating.

Nuts and bolts of effective psychological therapy from a patient's point of view.

How much, and in what way, does psychological therapy reduce problematic patterns of behaviour and thought? How can I, as a patient, make the process work for me? Layperson's eye view sought.

Science Forums?

I am a grad student in the physical sciences and I've got questions, but I work in a small group on a project by myself so a lot of the times I have simple questions that can take a while to dig out of papers. Is there a good forum or message board that is generally accepted to be useful for posing questions and such?

Financial books for a college graduate

My bro is graduating from college this month and is asking a lot of financial questions regarding investment/savings/etc. As the first college graduate in the "real world" he's asking me for some advice. I am looking to get him some books that I liked ( by Dave Ramsey and Suze Orman ) that have helped me out. I was seeing if there are other tomes of financial wisdom that I should get him for graduation (there are other gifts.. don't worry I'm not that lame;)

How To Learn Psychology

I have an interest in psychology that I'd like to explore further, but I'm not really sure how to start. I can't say I know much about the field of psychology. I'd like to explore alternatives to taking classes at the local community college (I'm not looking for a degree), but I'd definitely like to understand the mind more. Some books I've enjoyed reading: Prozac Nation, Paradox of Choice, Stumbling on Happiness.

Super Comfortable Portable Chaise for Sunning?

I've moved from a claustro apartment into a place with a (small) backyard, I have a full ipod with great headphones, and I've got a stack of books to read. It's time to kick back and suntan (quickly, before the really heavy rays kick in in July/August!). So...can anyone recommend a seriously comfortable yet reasonably portable (must store in garage between uses) chaisse lounge...or other outdoor reclining furniture appropriate for sunning?

Can You Name That Fallacy?

Is there already a precise term for the rhetorical fallacy/trick described in the following scenario: Guy A and B are arguing. Guy A makes an assertion. Guy B counters the assertion with an argument of his own. Guy A ignores the specifics of Guy B’s argument, and asserts that Guy B’s argument does not genuinely reflect Guy B’s position (i.e., Guy A says that there are certain unstated ‘real’ reasons Guy B holds the particular position he’s arguing for, and Guy A then goes on to expound on those real reasons to Guy B on his behalf).

The quality of luxury without the price or appearance

I used to get the cheapest liquid soap for washing hands I could find, but recently, I got the "shea butter" soap for $3 and found that the increased quality more than makes up for the increased cost. The question is: What else can I spend a little more on to get much more quality? (Fluffy towels, sheets, maybe?) Are there websites that review this?
