Recommend some great fonts

Which high quality fonts - mainly serifs/sans-serifs - can you recommend that should be in every designer's toolkit? I'm thinking about gorgeous and versatile fonts such as Helvetica, Futura, Frutiger, Franklin Gothic, Myriad, Garamond, Palatino, etc. Go on, get that list underneath your pillow because I really want to know!

Where to go?

So I am pondering a trip to Scotland. I know nothing at all other than that I think it is beautiful. If I were trying to find some place to go that possibly included the following desires (listed after the general questions) A.) Are there any good websites to explore for booking purposes B.) Have you dealt with any companies that you really enjoyed... Desire list: B&B style accommodations, in the country, the greener the scenery-the better, horses are good & preferred, water for swimming is cool- but not absolutely needed, booze must be easily found, good food huge plus Any words or links of wisdom?

magical balls

This fun Japanese contact juggler's clip is proving popular lately, but he is not the first Japanese practitioner of the art to surface online. Here are several more highly entertaining Japanese contact juggler clips worth watching: one, two (starts about 1:06), three, four, five. (all via the highly entertaining Ministry of Manipulation's blog).

What else is in this invisible backpack?

I'm a straight, white, upper middle class male. I'm aware that this automatically means I generally have an easier time than people with a different sexuality/race/class/gender. That said, I'm probably unaware of what these benefits are. What does this 'privileged' status do for me that I don't even notice?

What song is this?

What song is this? Ethereal and moody vocals (not quite spy, not quite gothic, but leaning ecletic), jazz rock background, sounds a bit like early Goldfrapp, or Morphine, or maybe even Darling Violetta. (All pretty approximate.) Very rough lyrics: I call you Tracy, You get along, You lovely... sing me your song. I call you darling, I know it's strong. I bet... ...and on. Show goes on. Show goes on. I call you ... ... I call you Liza B. I wish I could see That maybe it's only my dream. It's only my dream. Show goes on. Show goes on. I miss... ...queen of bees (beasts?). That honey Suzie, bewitched by me. I think you're... what else can be? ... ... Be my promise breaker, ... delusion maker, ... I wish I could see, It's only my dream. Show goes on, The show goes on.

The Picky Introvert's Guide to Making Friends?

I'm a male introvert with very, very few close friends. I can make casual friends no problem, but I'm rather particular about the type of people I'd want to be serious friends with. Difficulty: I'm an atheist liberal eco-friendly vegetarian tech nerd who doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs.

Martha's Daughters

A supportive blogging community of mainly women cross-linked on each other's blogrolls and leading an increasingly compelling marketplace of small-scale goods and handmade lives , green-living ideas , product promotion , and lifestyle-making suggest that the internet may be able to foster a localized economy model of living on an international scale--or at least gain the attention of that other idyllic-life icon.

Could you crib me some notes for my work-related robots vs. zombie debate later today? Why would robots defeat zombies in a knock-out, drag-out apocalypse? The future of Ubuntu Art

Ubuntu 8.04's Hardy Heron has recently perched on millions of desktops worldwide, but what does the future look like for the darling of the open source world? Now entering a new 2-year art developent cycle, Ubuntu's continuing quest for "pure, unadulterated, raw, visceral, lustful, shallow, skin deep beauty" has begun again in earnest. Bleeding edge desktop effects [youtube, music] are already creeping into the official distribution and the community is eagerly awaiting the new graphical look, promised as a ground-up re-imagination in the next release, Intrepid Ibex. Watch this space.

Get iphoto/itunes files off local drive? Maybe S3?

I'm looking for some best practice advice in moving my iTunes music and my iPhoto images off my local hard drive. The 160GB drive on my Macbook is about full. I know I can use a USB/Firewire/Network-attached external hard drive, but has anyone had luck using a service such as Amazon's S3 for this. I know if works fine for storing the files, but how usable is it to actually 'get' the files?
