What's the best light bulb option these days? I need to replace the bulbs in my bathroom (9, 40 watt bulbs currently). Lights are typically on for about 20 minutes a day. Occasional they'll be on and off quickly. There are no windows. I want to be environmentally conscious, but price does factor in at some level.

Last week, Pride Fighting Championships had their American debut in Las Vegas.
Pride FC is a Mixed Martial Arts organization from Japan that boasts a lineup of fighters arguably superior to those of other MMA groups. Their heavyweight champion for example,
Fedor Emelianenko, is considered the best MMA fighter ever by most fight commentators. They are famous for their
operatic production values, regularly filling out 30-60,000 seat arenas in Japan.
However, many in MMA circles assert that their product is
"too foreign" for the US, and that they need to
"Americanize" their product for the mass market. Is this true? Given the popularity of
video games,
Anime and
Manga in the US, they might not have to change all that much.

ChicagoMasonryFilter: A recent windstorm knocked the cover and some masonry off my chimney. My regular tuckpoint/masonry guys won't fix it-- they say the job's too small. Anyone know a reliable service that can repair this? Thanks.

that kind of problem. See, my girlfriend has really bad, eye-watering, stomach-turning gas.

I am a library director who definitely needs a change of job (possibly a change of career) but I am stumped as to how to convince employers outside the library world that I am willing, able and sometimes more than qualified to do a job that doesn't necessarily involve books/libraries/IT maintenance. Can anyone share examples of how to convince employers you are qualified for something different?

Is there an expense reporting app that's flexible, handy, and will help me finish next year's taxes quickly and easily? I know about excel, quicken, and various financial transaction apps, but what if I drive 100 miles to a tech conference and want to note my mileage? And what if I'm out entertaining clients and I want to pop onto my iPhone to note the total bill for the evening (before I forget the next day to open excel). Are there any web-based flexible apps for doing all the expense reporting you might need for a small business' bookkeeping needs?

I often find myself with an open weekend and an urge to fly to no place in particular, just to go exploring. Whether it's Sioux City, Billings, or Biloxi, I figure I can entertain myself anywhere for a weekend. Are there websites that allow you to search for cheap, last minute flights from a given origin, irrespective of destination? Most sites require you to enter a destination, which makes the whole process a lot more difficult.

I found a very small (live) worm in my cod dinner. This cod was line caught on Saturday in New Hampshire's Atlantic. It was given to me by the fisherman. It spent 3 days in the fridge. I had baked the fish for 13 minutes at 400 degrees. It was white and flakey. As I was eating (after I had eaten over half), I noticed a circular thing, about 1/2 cm in diameter, which looked odd. I poked at it with my fork where I noticed it was alive. It was very thin and about an inch long. Am I going to die? Is there anything to do?

A freaky unfortunate turn of events: As an update on
a very old thread on nudism that questioned and debated the gray area between nude adults and nudist children in the setting of a nudist colony,
one defender of nudist culture from that discussion was
arrested on charges of child sex abuse late last year (still being held awaiting trial afaict). It's freaky to go back and re-read the debate knowing what eventually came to pass.

(Oil Heat) - Getting a new oil burner / furnace.
(1) How much should it cost, including installation, for a new oil furnace that's at least pretty good/efficient? (We've gotten one estimate, so far, for $10,000 (!) $11,000 for antifreeze pipe system.) What's the cost for the equipment vs cost of labor?
(2) The $10K was for a System 2000. Is the System 2000 really that good? Anyone have one? How much did it cost? How much did it reduce your heating bills?

I have a “career” right now and I’m sick of it and the industry. I want to go back to having a “job” that pays me enough to live. But I don’t think I’ve truly reconciled things in my head. How do I reconcile within myself that I’m not a failure if I give up on my career and chosen industry and go get a job doing…something?

Mortal Kombat,
Punch-Out,
River City Ransom,
Shinobi,
Samurai Shodown,
Super Mario Kart,
Super Mario World, and my favorite,
Super Metroid.
