I'm a single guy living alone. I need to start cooking for myself because I spend too much money on food, and most of what I eat is kinda bad for me. However, I hate doing dishes and don't have much time to cook. What foods/recipes would you suggest?

I have just found out I'm a big fan of post apocalyptic fiction books. Somehow I like the idea of an individual or small group of survivors almost alone in the world trying to find out what the hell happened to the planet and fighting for their survival. What are some good books and movies the hive mind can recommend?

I've just signed up for a gym membership for the first time in my life... Due to metabolism, I'm not fat, but I'm still really out of shape... what should I start with?

Got any advice on Japan?
I'm thinking of spending a couple of weeks in Japan as part of a round the world trip. Planned destinations are Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima. I'd be on a budget so I'd probably stay in a Japanese-style hotel, which I hear are more affordable than a Western-style place.
Can I actually see Japan on a budget at all, or is it just too expensive? Are Shinjuku and Akihabara as good as they sound or is it all totally hyped? Any advice on all topics Japanese are welcome! Thanks and sorry for all the question.

I've been offered a one month gig in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, with a US$85 per diem. Travel and accomodation are covered - I'm only responsible for food and fun. I know that Japan is expensive, but just HOW expensive is it? How far will this get me?

Planning a trip to Tokyo/Kyoto towards the end of May and I'm looking for suggestions for great places to stay for two nights in Kyoto (inexpensive to moderately priced) as well as don't miss sights/restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto. We will be there for about two weeks.

Most of us are familiar with
the web 2.0 look - bright colours, big fonts, rounded corners, gloss and reflection effects - but what sites are breaking free of the stereotypes and pushing design boundaries? Which are your favourite sites that boast a cutting edge, next-generation design aesthetic? Which sites are pioneering tomorrow's design, today?

What modernist classical music should I listen to? I am a big fan of Sigur Ros, especially Takk and (), and I'd like to listen to something similar. I also like Amnesiac by Radiohead quite a bit.

I really really dislike doing things. This goes all the way ad absurdum in that I actually would rather freeze into nothingness than deal with college, work, chores, and so on.

Just moved into a house. Previous owner apparently fed, and let into the house, a neighborhoood feral cat. The cat mews all night outside, trying to get in.
