I'd like to see either candidate, or any candidate, of any election in the US, stand up to the kind of interrogation European public officials receive regularly from the press, or expertly maneuver amid that claptrap in the House of Commons the way Tony Blair did day in and day out. Now, in the US, there is a culture of fetishizing Asian women to the point of absurdity. If you've ever spent 5 minutes on the internet, you will know what I mean. There is an attitude where Asian women stop being women and start being objects. Many years ago I went to a SIGGRAPH conference which included an exhibit called "Neuro Baby" - basically an interactive baby CGI character which would react to the emotions in the voices of those viewing it (see demonstration video). Like any baby if would get upset if it thought that you were too.

I think it's kind of funny, people complain about the lack of free speech in china, but when Chinese people do speak up about what they care about, people absolutely freak out. Now, granted a lot of that sentiment probably exists because they've been getting fed propaganda for decades, but I seriously doubt that the strident pro-nationalism on display is insincere or unrepresentative of what the average Chinese person thinks about the various issues.
