This ain't your father's palindromes

Ambigrams are words or phrases that can be read in more than one way or from more than a single vantage point, most commonly right-side-up and upside-down. Ambigram.Matic is the world's first and only online Ambigram Generator! Flip any word, different words of the same length, or even an entire (symmetrically spaced) sentence on its head, and read it both ways!

How to stop being a miserable wretch and start living

I seriously need some inspiration here. I'm female, 32, single, miserable in my job, cannot seem to get it together, and don't seem to find enough hours in the day to simply HANDLE MY LIFE.

I'm trying to find the recipe for something called sandulla (spelling is probably wrong, san pronounced as in bonbon and dulla as in hoola).

Best book for a beginner to learn C? I've never learned a programming language, but I'm hoping to learn C over the summer. My friend, a computer science student, is going to teach me as he learns it. We would like a textbook or reference book or work book of some kind. What would be a good choice?

travel curling iron or rollers?

Traveling to France for a few weeks this summer. At home, I normally blow-dry my hair and set it in hot rollers, but I don't want to lug my full-sized stuff. Anyone have a suggestion for a really good large-barreled curling iron, or a compact set of hot rollers, as well as a small hair dryer? I've seen a few online, but if you have a rec for one you think is good, I'd like to hear it.

Help me fill in the vowels: BTQSTD

I make a fairly large monthly to-do list, usually a few words per task. But I omit the vowels for each word and put a dash for spaces, example: "RFLL-CLLNG-CRD" would be "REFILL CALLING CARD", here's one I can't solve...

I'm really not looking at gay porno

When checking out a gchat link from a friend to nbc.com, my firefox froze as "jew.wmv" tried to run (unsuccessfully) and a screaming chorus of "I'm looking at gay porno" came out of my computer. Does anybody know what the hell this is?

Insect mating ritual porn

Green Porno, Sundance Channel's new series of short films. Isabella Rossellini singlehandedly re-enacts mating rituals of the dragonfly, spider, bee, praying mantis, worm, snail and housefly by getting it on with cardboard cut-outs. Wired video interview.

Beyond Rape: A survivor's journey

Joanna Connors, a theatre critic, was raped on an empty stage. She tells her story in vivid, lucid detail-- then traces her rapist's twisted family history. One of the best pieces of journalism-- or writing, for that matter-- I've read for ages. Lots of resources for survivors and their families, as well.
