I saw her, Meg saw her, and now chickclick has a whole page devoted to someone else who saw (and talked) to her.

She did this horrendous movie here in Ireland called The Matchmaker....I'm sure all the Merkins who saw it liked it, but I thought it was rubbish :-)

If I remember correctly, Meg brought that movie up when she talked to Janeane, and Janeane said something like "you must be one of the 6 people that saw it!"

But did anybody ask her if she wants to play "American Maid" on the live-action "Tick" show?!?

Dammit. I didn't see her not even once! =(

I saw Elvis Mitchell though. Three times. Didn't talk to him though cuz every time I saw him there was already somebody who was gushing at him and I figured if I went up and gushed at him at the same time he'd pull out all his dreadlocks and go run and hide. To be in the same hall with greatness was enough. And if any pobucker asks who Elvis Mitchell is I'll tan yer hide! I was getting that all week at the SXSW: "I can't believe it! Elvis Mitchell!" I'd say. "Elvis who?" someone else would say. ARGH! ..okay I'm much better now.

Post designed to make Zachs lose his mind:
I went to the same college with Elvis Mitchell for two years; he was working the school paper, I was at the college radio station; we crossed paths maybe twice and I know he'd never remember me; still his writing was impressing people like me back then and I do get to keep him on my "names to drop if you wanna impress people on Metafilter" list.

Who is Elvis Mitchell?

I *did* mention "The Matchmaker" to her and she laughed. Then we chatted all about Ireland. I have to say she is way way cool. She walked by me last night on the street too. Maybe I'll get to talk to her more before I leave!

Meg, your surname says "Irish" all over it :-)
Any Irish family?

Erm... Janeane who?

It's probably best I never saw Janeane.

Elvis Mitchell I could keep from approaching. I mean he just didn't seem very approachable, and whenever I came within eyeshot of him, there was always someone else there pestering him already, and Mitchell had this perpetual, "calgon take me away" look about him.

However had Janeane been there I probably would have done *something* which would have caused security to drag me away clutching and screaming. What? I don't know. Get a piece of clothing? Cut a lock of her hair? Offer to pick her nose? I have no idea.

Okay. Probably I'd have only had the guts to do something which would have left me mortified and psychologically scarred for the rest of my life but to which everyone else would have been completely oblivious. Like I would have tried to approach her, accidently trip on my own shoelaces, land my head smack dab full force into a wall, and I'd wake up with some stray dog licking my face as Janeane and her crowd of well-wishers faded around a distant corner.

Come to think of it, I'm glad I missed her. Probably best all around. If I could fathom that she's, y'know, *human* and treat her like that, it'd be different, but remember when the Beatles came to America and everybody started sceaming at them incessantly until Ringo went deaf?

I fear Janeane would cause me to reflexively scream uncontrollably until I went into convulsions resembling an epilectic seizure, and I'd need to be hosed down. Best just not to go there.

If she's holding the hose, who cares?
