You know, behind all of the violent hitting and slapping, I sense that Angie Dickinson had a true caring relationship with Lee Marvin. That the aberrant musicality of their tempestuous relationship was an expression of a deeper love. They were never married, but had they been married they may have gone for years; Angie, the frustrated percussionist, unloading her anger on Lee. And Lee, the poor battered husband, gazing softly at Angie beneath forest-sized eyebrows.
