From boingboing: Here's a purported email exchange between Judd Apatow, who created Fox's Undeclared, and Mark Brazill, who co-created That 70's Show. It starts with Apatow writing to Brazill to verify a rumor that Brazill is holding some kind of grudge against him, and quickly deteriorates into a Usenet-grade flamewar in which Brazill comes across as a total loon.

What it it about email that makes prefectly intelligent people behave like such jackasses? I guess because the technology allows you enough time to craft really mean-spirited and (to your mind) clever insults, but also allows you to send the damned thing whenever you want, without having to reconsider the wisdom of sending anything at all.

being at a different location maybe? people put stuff in email they would never say face to face.

I dunno. It seems pretty clear to me that Apatow is in the right. And considering the level of emotions, they both stayed pretty articulate. But I'm not sure I get the implication that this exchange shows TV people to be full of crap. Not that they aren't. But this is a very typical dispute, one of them is probably right, and it happens in other industries too.

Glare all you want and call me crazy ( "crazy" ), but that comment, with "Until then, die in a fiery accident and taste your own blood." running a close second, made me laugh out loud.
Maybe it's the non-PC side of me (wait; almost all sides me are that way), but that kind of absurd, vitriolic remark makes me laugh... predominantly at the person who makes the remark. It's so angry that to me it runs right into the category of "black humor".

What's even worse is that I really like "That 70's Show", while I have tried - believe me, I have tried - to like "Undeclared". I can't. In my opinion, it's crap.
