What should be dropped at Times Square for New Year's Eve? Perhaps a change is needed this year. Which item listed would you vote for? Or do you have one not given here?

Things that are listed on the page you linked to, as of the time of this comment (the page must've changed):
  • Paul O'Neill
  • Ken Dam
  • President Bush
  • Linda Chavez
  • Phil Gramm
  • Dick Armey
  • Bill Archer
  • Steve Forbes
  • Donald Marron
  • Osama bin Laden
Personally, I'd say drop 'em all and make sure Galileo knew what he was talking about.

The very best non-perishable food products from all 49 countries who lost people in the WTC attacks - prosciutto, smoked sturgeon, swiss chocolates with sweet little parachutes, preserved plums, etc. Don't know of a good delivery system for booze. That could be distributed by firetrucks full of the best cognac, vodka, whisky, wine, etc.
Stuff to party with!

How about the attitude of the juvenile morons who think that even suggesting dropping human beings from a great height is in any way funny or acceptable, that would be a good start.

Well, dropping a bad attitude sounds like a nice idea, but it would hardly be as exciting...

LOL... i asked him if he thought he should drop his womanizing habits... he preferred that i drop the subject... then little wayne came in and told us to "drop it like it's hot." and then santa drop kicked him in the face...

i vote that we drop the facade. i can't lie to you any longer... i love you.

This morning's papers report that the Mayor will be sworn in (and the new mayor "sworn out") in Times Square just after midnight.

I think the noise should drop this year. There should be silence. It's still not the time for the traditional celebration. Sobriety. Respect. Maybe some polite applause. Shaking hands and hugging with those around you and wishing a better 2002 (I was also opposed to a Yankee parade, had the WS turned out differently).
