oublio: most popular stuff on the internet "I made a site and I thought MeFi might find it interesting: It shows the most popular image on Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Flickr in real time, as well as the most popular videos on YouTube each day: www.oublio.com. Now you can waste time on social media more efficiently!" [via mefi projects]

Nice! Though reddit photos often need the caption for context (this becomes awesome only when you know the OP put catnip in his/her food dehydrator)

I am delighted by this, especially because there are links through to the source of each image!

Love it, mostly because the most popular gaming video is two nerds playing Super Mario World, which is highly relevant to my interests.

What, no MySpace?

This is one of those things which, when it is invented, leads me to wonder: how is it someone didn't think of that before?

Should I be surprised that the #1 tumblr picture appears to be a fetish thing?

I wonder how often it updates... I expected different "most popular right now" images when I checked back after a few minutes, given the way people post things to the internets.

I definitely got different stuff at 3:29 than I did just now.

My first reload I got something new, but since then it's been the same set of pics. I wonder if we broke it.

Current top likes/upvotes for a few images and videos you mean.

As people view the most popular pictures they become even more popular, so you get gridlock.

The current most popular image on reddit right now is making me have trouble with my prejudices. Perhaps I judged you too harshly, reddit people.

No 4chan?

I didn't think I was going to like this for some reason. But I was wrong, I do like it and will be checking back again.

So the most popular image on one of the world's most popular social networking timewaster sites at the moment is... a Monet painting? That almost gives me hope for humanity.

The #1 Reddit picture at the moment is a note saying "Found in Conf Rm A. Assumed to be yours." And below it is a single googly eye.

It's good they returned it, as Raggedy Ann was having problems with depth perception.

This is good. Add an RSS feed and it gets from good to 'pretty usable work tool'

I would rather see a real time Social Media War ROom with up to the second updates

I love how these are presented without context. The Instagram ones in particular make it fairly evident that we're living in a parody of our own pop culture...

Oh, God, I don't know how accurate it is overall, but right now the top images are completely emblematic of the various social networks' position on the internets.

"Is there anything more beautiful than a beautiful, beautiful flamingo, flying across in front of a beautiful sunset? And he's carrying a beautiful rose in his beak, and also he's carrying a very beautiful painting with his feet. And also, you're drunk."
