Anna Nicole Smith walks away with $88 million. Not bad for a Playboy model who met an 89 year old millionaire at a topless club, married him when he offered her half of his fortune and declared bankruptcy when the old geezer reneged on his promise. Given the obvious motivations behind this lawsuit, do you think Smith will give any of the dough away to charity?

I'm more than willing to be her boy toy if she wants to throw some of that cash my way.

Hell, even if she doesn't, I'm still willing. Anna, are you out there?

So she's a ca. $240,000/night whore. Big Deal. I hope I can afford one of those someday (not that I want one).

It's worth whatever she got. Capitalism at it's finest.

It's not that she's fat. Her head is more grotesquely out of proportion than I remember it.

She deserves every penny. She made the old gentleman's last days happy. He made a promise and went back on it. Good on her, I say. The whole world seems to be against her. Why? What did she do that was wrong?

It's fine to talk about capitalism but capitalism hinges on contracts and the rule of law. Marriage is a contract. The law courts decided in her favour, despite a mysogynistic and tasteless media campaign against her, unfortunately echoed here.

Besides who can forget her scenes with Leslie Nielsen in one of those Naked Gun films or how happy she made millions of adolescents when she posed for Playboy?

You ungentlemanly, envious ingrates, you!

are you a whore if you dont put out? from all the accounts that ive seen and read, ANS didnt even spend the night with the old lug on their honeymoon, opting to fly to europe for a film instead.

to me, that's sorta cold, but not whore-worthy.

ok, it's really cold.

still, she deserved the money.

Scratch that. She is the ugliest thing in the universe.

I'm with you miguel. It would be wrong to take this woman's money from her. She did earn it. What did the kids ever do?

i wish this award could make that disgusting woman in the photo take her money and never step in front of a camera again.

Crasspastor : how can you say her head is out of proportion ? The head looks fine to me.
Ok, maybe that's the only fine part...

I wonder if all the derogatory remarks would have been the same if the story been about a 24 year old guy and an 89 year old woman ?
posted by Tarrama at 4:21 PM on March 7, 2002

No, then we'd just all start making "Sunset Blvd." references. Especially if the guy was known for nothing else besides posing naked and marrying the old rich woman.

A marriage is a business deal. Marriage is not just a business deal, to be sure, but a business deal is one of the several things that it is.

Well, why else would a 24 year old stripper marry an ancient billionaire? For the benjamins. :) Why would an aging billionaire marry a 24 year old stripper? For the boobies. :)

She's already admitted that it was prostitution sanctified by marriage...in that, she expected a certain level of monetary reward for her "wifely" services.

She performed said services...now it's just quibbles about who's picking up the tab. Give her the cash, she's earned it. After all, he was 84....even with viagra, that had to be work. :)
