@VeryMetaFilter - a twitterbot to warm your heart! @veryMetaFilter tweets out some of the wonderful MetaFilter lore, in-jokes, memorable lines, and ephemera we know and love. [via mefi projects]

joseph conrad is fully awesome lives up to her name by developing a nifty bot that blasts out a MetaFilter quip every 3 hours. oneswellfoop says "This bot needs a tune-up" and naju reports "This is frighteningly on point." If you can't get enough MeFi, this bot is for you!

There's a lot of duplication here in a short period - given what a vast, fetid sinkhole of in-jokes, jargon, memorable moments/dust-ups, etc. MeFi is, surely we can lard this a bit better.

That said, followed.

Nice to see Lyn Never's Make words come out of your face made the cut, as it really is a perfect distillation of an oft-given Ask Metafilter answer. I'm crossing my fingers that this will join the AskMe pantheon of regularly given answers, as so many, many problems are either directly or indirectly caused by the failure of one or more people to make words come out of their respective faces. I am already giving some thought to having it tattooed on my arm as a life-long reminder.

@veryMetafilter one of the strangest Twitter feeds I've seen in some time. I have no idea how these people got their Metafilter got jammed into their Twitter, or why.

Does anybody read the tweets down here?

I stand by my original comment about the bot needing a tune-up... so many repetitions (and MetaFilter HATES Doubles), yet no "Eponysterical", no "GRAR", no "FPP", no "Portobello Mushrooms", no "Special Snowflakes", no "More Addictive Than Crack" or "The Plastic.com It's Okay To Like" (which may only be familiar to us OldFites, but hey, get off my virtual lawn!)

The truly cheap-and-dirty way to kick this into high gear would be to pull from the taglines datafiles.

I'm not trying to be too critical here; this is far more "best of the web" than the 374th link to the New York Times Magazine Section... (or what I have planned for MY next post).

Thank you so much for the feedback.

The response has been incredible! My inbox is exploding and my head. I'll get right on adding new stuff.

When I was originally writing the script, I only add things that *I* thought were funny, so something like "Eponysterical", which doesn't particularly tickle my funny bone, was left out.

However, having received some feedback - and thank you for that - I'll just add more and more stuff to keep it interesting. It was more of a personal view of what I thought was funny, but now with the influx of new followers, I think I have a 'bot duty to fold-in the stuff people are suggesting and want to see. Thanks again for the suggestions, keep 'em coming.

This was so fun to make. I am Truly LIcensed Tracery Programmer. :D If anyone wants to make a bot I strongly encourage it. Mefites are so nice.

I see no taters, nor any stand vs. sit. This seems suspicious to me.

Also, scanning the feed, I realize how many of these have entered into my personal catalog of conversational phrases. No wonder normal people often give me the "Baroo?" face when I speak.
