Beware the Ides of March! Take a little time today to think about Crazy Old Bill. There's a ton of Shakespearian stuff out there from the silly to the scary. (Even if you do think he's a phoney). Party Anon, dude.

Hey, my cousin's birthday is today, thanks for reminding me Chef!

As for the parodies, I find The Reduced Shakespeare Company to be much better at it. I started reading the Hamlet parody from your link, Chef, and wow... bad. I mean, wow...

I saw the "Reduced Shakespeare Company" when I was at LSU. Yeah, great, great stuff. It's amazing how that stuff holds up, even when you distill it down.

They also do a great History of America. Haven't seen their History of the World, but I'm sure it's good.

Events in Roman History occurring on the Ides of March, which, upon closer inspection, are shown to be less significant than Julius Caesar's murder.

A post somewhere (Metafilter?) re3cently made a case for Marlowe being the author of the works attributed to Shakespeare. Here, from the link given here, is the short piece by Shakespeare's great contemporary and competitor, who clearly knew Shakespeare first-hand at remarks on W.S. writing prowess:
To the Reader.
This Figure, that thou here seest put,
It was for gentle Shakespeare cut,
Wherein the Graver had a strife
with Nature, to out-doo the life :
O, could he but have drawne his wit
As well in brasse, as he hath hit
His face ; the Print would then surpasse
All, that was ever writ in brasse.
But, since he cannot, Reader, looke
Not on his Picture, but his Booke.
he is referring to a famous portrait of W.S., also given at the link.

Veeerry nice, KnitWit... I especially like how you managed to put "pick-a-nick baskets" in one line of meter - and it scanned!
