Is President Bush Gay? (Answer: No, but he says "fabulous" a lot.) Is Billy Joel washed up? (NYT required) (Answer: Sounds like it.) Is Star Wars Episode Two any good? (Answer: Yes, beyond your wildest dreams.)

this is a confusing thread, adrober. why not focus on one topic?

As much as I love Harry/AICN's bubbly enthusiasm for EVERYTHING1, I'll trust his opinion on a movie as soon as pigs fly.

1. I'm not being sarcastic either, their absolute gungho support for anything with even a smidge of fun recorded on film is great contrast to actual critics.

Of course I can only speak for myself, but MY wildest dreams never have ANYTHING to do with Star Wars.

Here's a front page post that needs revision...As if one of these topics wouldn't create a thousand comment thread, you've put THREE controversial subjects in a post? Yeesh...

What's controversial about Billy Joel being washed-up?

How does a Billy Joel soundtrack for a Star Wars movie sound?

Fabulous!

HTuttle: Ah, so your wildest dreams have to do with Lord of the Rings, then? I understand.

At least we got to see a picture of Billy Joel do-si-do-ing with Elton John.

I was at the Billy Joel Elton John concert Friday night. Kelefa Sanneh of the NYTimes is being a sensationalist prick.

Yeah Joel was screwing up and not on his best, but the guy was suffering from an upper respritory infection and a hemorageing vocal chord. It's no wonder they canceled the rest of the dates, he's been fighting this illness for the better part of a month. There's no need to call him washed up. With all the pain and suffering, obvious even to the people in the nosebleeds, he put on an amazing performance. I doubt many showmen half his age would struggle through as well as he did. He's a guy that really cares about putting on a show for his fans.

We held the force
In the palm
Of our hand
They ruled the dark
And the dark
Seemed to last as long as six weeks
On Yoda's Island

We had the rebels
They had the death star
And they were dressed
Dressed up in tights
They heard the hum of our Wookies
They baked us some cookies
And waited for us to arrive
And we would all go down together
We said we'd all go down together
Yes we would all go down together

Coldchef? His Haiku
prowess is like unto that
of a fly, buzzing

at first, amusing
then annoying, then cometh
the swatter: ka-whack!

For worthy haiku,
your paragon? Kafkaesque.
His Zen is twice mine.

Sulk not, good ColdChef;
thy fame is secure, thy name
honored amongst us.

Like Frostmiser, or
the white-furred yeti, ColdChef

Good Fes, tempt me not
With your syllabic banter
It sounds unlovely.

With each thought-poem
The smiting hand nearer draws
The end approaches!

As it was once said,
In a thread long departed
That the end is neigh.

these aren't the pool boys
you're looking for aimlessly
swinging back and forth.

an ewok cringes
thirty more stalls for Alec
whoever knew it.

magazine clippings
their eyes flutter out of pages
I know who I am

never buying this
it sounds like death and dying
Billy Joel: stop it now

George W. Bush is in Star Wars as a Gay Jedi? Billy Joel is doing the soundtrack?

Moz, I'm confused too.
posted by DragonBoy at 3:07 PM on March 18, 2002

If you're confused just ask me ask me ask me. Ask me ask me ask me. Cos if you're confused, then it's wrong, it's wrong, it's wrong, it's wrong, it's wrong, it's wrong for you to remain that way.

Personally I find this thread really laughable (la ha ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha ha, oh ho ho ho, la ha ha ha ha ha....)

Oh dear. I sense a gay-porn GWB photoshop session coming on, with jedi knights a-leaping and Billy Joel tinkling some ivories in the background, for good measure.

And I'm at work. That's a bad thing. Stay tuned.

Skallas Dallas Pretty Pink Palace...WRONG!

Ok, that was me doing Dana Carvey doing McLaughlin... and as you can see I'm a brilliant mimic. And for those who were confused by my triple post, my most sincere apology.

posted by mecran01 at 9:30 AM on March 19, 2002

Maybe Billy Joel just realized his classical piano album was a stupid idea, and he was a little upset about it. It's like he's lost his creative edge. His focus.
