Required reading for 'professional scousers' everywhere.

My first (and only) trip to Liverpool: in the first shop I went in the shopkeeper and his friend were talking about the 'unique scouse humour' on the radio they were playing the Beatles. You couldn't make it up.

I went to university in liverpool so there is forever a soft spot for it in me heart. Two rules to remember all scousers are comedians so humour them and never ever support man utd.

I went to university in Manchester, one rule to remember - 'never trust a scouser'.

As the only person here who actually seems to come from Liverpool, perhaps it's inevitable I should drop my line in.

Whenever I look at something like this I'm in a catch twenty-two. If I say how I'm actually feeling (that this site just perpetuates the Liverpudlian stereotypes which pervade the media and which I have to put up with all of the time (eg) I tell someone I was from Liverpool they started to mock pat their chest in case I had 'nicked their wallet') I'm labeled a humourless bastard who can't take a joke. But if I just stand by and let it happen, I'm equally quilty, because I haven't pointed the obvious shortfall. It's racism.

Discuss.

feelingempathy : wouldn't call it racism but I think you've every right to be pissed off about it.

On reflection, perhaps that is a bit harsh. The writers do claim to be from Liverpool after all. I'm just a bit tired of seeing this stuff over and over again ...
