Depends on who you ask and how you define toast. My partner pulls golden "toast" out of the toaster all the time, but if he gives it to me, I will put that "toast" in the toaster until it's golden-brown.

I'd be curious as to how successful a pun generator could be made for the "soundalike category mashup" puns. You just take two sets of things, then jam them together, like "song titles" and "Indian food" would give you "korma chameleon" and "paperback raita" etc. I imagine the results would be weird as hell, but it'd be a fun exercise.

Thanks for all the awesome puns everyone! I really appreciate it.

I fixed the issue where the generator makes very bland puns, like "You put the 'generator' in 'generators'" by eliminating pairs that differ only in endings -s, -ly, and -ing. A version of the site with that issue fixed is here:

www.googledrive.com/host/0BwJRsHpcq0yFWUI3VFlQX3lqQk0

I like the idea of making a version that goes by pronunciation rather than spelling using the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary, as jedicus suggested in the original projects post, and Jon Mitchell suggested on this thread. I hope to implement that soon!
