"It's the ring. It's getting heavier". This site is offering a 20Mb Quicktime download of the trailer for LOTR: The Two Towers. Very obviously a bootleg filmed in a theatre -- it's got an annoying flicker and the sound is a bit mussy -- but pretty decent quality otherwise.

Ooooooo! I can't wait!
It looks really good. I'm a real sucker for LOTR though.

Given the sensitivity of Hollywood to 9/11, it surprises me that they would of chosen such a title as LOTR: The Two Towers. Is this trend wearing off? (Although I suppose it is better than "LOTR: THE TWIN TOWERS")

Now I know what LOTR:TTT will look like if I were to watch it in black and white with a strobe light. My head hurts.

Ah, I'm going to be a sentimental fool and pay to see Fellowship again to see the new trailer. At the Embassy, of course.

I didn't even think of the 9/11 connection, actually, so blinded am I by the niftiness of all things Tolkien. I think it would rankle and bother me more if the name was changed, seeing as "The Two Towers" is just simply the name of the story. There's no New York in Middle Earth, and Frodo doesn't hijack Gwahir and plow him into Orthanc. For me, at least, escapism will prevail despite the name.

Anyway, I've been weeping and gnashing my teeth over this trailer all weekend...
Gandalf the White! ! Hobbits in peril! Treebeard!! Gollum!! I'm so glad to see Eowyn kicking all kinds of ass.
And it appears to me as though Arwen contracts some sort of wasting disease in the next episode, what with all the shots of her lolling around and all.

Oh ho ho... I kid because I love. Roll on December!

banished: You realize that Tolkein chose the title back in 1954?

banished: the subject did come up, but it was decided to keep the original title.

Great! Go ahead and ruin it for everyone, kitty!

Ugh, somethings should just not be achrinomizied: LOTR:TFOTR, LOTR:TTT, LOTR:SOMETHINGOROTHER. Geez, just call it Rings:fellowship and Rings:towers. Much more sensible.

Aw, just blink a lot and you won't even notice.

Something's up with our DSL and it will take forever to download right now, so I have to ask, do they show the Ents? Are they strong and treelike? *sigh* I can't wait...

Kittyloop... We get a glimpse of Treebeard.... just the tiniest teaser shot, and it doesn't look nearly as cool in this bootleg version of the trailer. But it was enough to make me squeal "Eeeee! Look!!" like a total freak when we saw it in the theatre.

c.a.n't d.o.w.n.l.o.a.d. t.o.o. s.l.o.w.w.w.w.w...
I also can't seem to find a theater in Boston that has the extra footage attached. Alas.

Having just seen this in the theater the other day, I can tell you that it shows all sorts of things... including some fairly major spoilers. Obviously this isn't a problem, unless you're one of the losers that haven't read the books already :)

I'm reading proust. It doesn't have any elves in it, but it's pretty good nonetheless.

LOSERS

oh god I've made them angry now..

I vote we call it either T3 (which will confuse people with a third Terminator movie) or just pronounce it as TiTTy and they can cross-market with Hooters.

Settle, that was either the funniest post in this thread, or the most pretentious post in mefi history. Maybe both?

Don't think we've forgotten that trolling is flirting post, either!

Settle, are you telling me Mme. de Villeparisis isn't an elf? Damn, now I have to start from the beginning again.

And I suppose the madeleine wasn't really a lembas wafer, either...

*vent on*

damn it banished, you just couldn't resist, huh?

Get stuffed.

Chose? Yes, the title was chosen by J.R.R. Tolkien about 50 years ago.

I'm tempted to cite the Gandalf banishing Wormtongue speech, but I guess that will be over whatever top I'm setting.

*vent off*

lol, at least settle is an honest troll =)

I define that as giving an option to say "I don't give a fuck what you think" in your mind and cruise on.

Re: "it surprises me that they would of chosen such a title as LOTR: The Two Towers. Is this trend wearing off?"

My funniest moment in a bookstore happened right before Christmas. I was in a Borders books and happened to walk by their Lord of the Rings mega-display right as a, shall we say, "redneck" family was perusing the titles.

The parents of the 14 year old daughter nodded their heads in approval as she exclaimed, "They made a book out of it already?!" She then proceeded to pick up Fellowship, glanced for a half a second at the back cover summary, and mumbled, "Ugh, I can't be bothered to read this. I'll just see the movie."

GET OUT OF THE BOOKSTORE.
