What a wonderful world we live in. A pair of 34DD breasts that has its own weblog. Where were websites like this when we were growing up and *needed* them?

The young lady to whom the breasts in question are attached wants to appear in FHM Magazine; as you'll see, she's encouraging her readers to write her name in...

*I* will be. :-)

Sorry but I find that kinda trashy. What is the point of showing your boobs off for the world to see? Some people thrive on attention.

When I first saw the breastlog, I thought "why?". Then I thought about it some more. Then I imagined what I'd log if I were going to have logs for different parts of my body.

footlog: "Was encased in boots all day. Then they came off, and we lay horizontally for a while. The cat laid on us until katchomko's alarm went off in the morning"

earlog: "Held katchomko's glasses on his head again."

penislog: "hung out with mr and mr testicle all day. Didn't get to meet anyone else AGAIN. What's up with katchomko? Every since he got old, he hasn't been paying any attention to the advice I give him. I miss the old days, when he'd follow me around like a puppy."

one of the things I find weird about the site is there's no shot of the woman's face. I know it's supposed to be all about the breasts, and a big goof on that, but without her face shown, it's kind of freaky and it further objectifies her body.

i find it really strange that it's all feminist to talk about your vagina but "trashy" to focus on your breasts. i think that's a really weird contradiction -- like, you can love your vagian because it's ugly & gives you pleasure, but because men tend to like boobies, because they're pretty & sexy, it's wrong to think that's okay.
posted by palegirl at 2:00 PM on May 22, 2000

I'm not a feminist. I still think it's kinda silly. The whole idea. I agree with Matt...I think she should show her face. Why just the boobs? I mean, come on. Don't be shy. In my opinion she does it because it gets her attention. Its evident she loves it and is using it to get in FHM.

Who says Vaginas are ugly anyway? ;-) Maybe yours is.

When I first saw it I thought she might be doing a sort of subversive thing with the site, or ironic. I no longer think she's trying to do that, and so to me it's a little boring. But - really - whatever floats your boat, eh? I don't have to read it. I hope she has fun with it and it does what she wants for her.

hooray for (fake) boobies!

I'd like to see her face too.. but not for all the nice reasons the rest of you do. But it's her perogative, that's what the web's about, no? While some of us my focus on one side of our personality, she focuses on one (two?) sides of her lovely body...

Actually, she writes a 'traditional' weblog, too, and if one follows Ashworth's Law assiduously enough, one will discover that, and that she's got quite a pretty face indeed. If one looks at enough of the site, one will discover that the FHM sthick is fairly recent... and that much of the focus of the site is on breasts in general, not hers, and is -- as I put it in the link in my log, "saucy, not salacious".

But, as was noted in a VarBusiness magazine followup to a piece they did on the e-commerce behind the smut industry, most of the people having opinons about *anything* typically don't actually *read* all of what they're commenting on.

A related observation is that if you have breasts like that, you'll probably understand exactly why she does it, as a friend of mine who does commented.

I figured this would be an interesting sociological experiment, anyway...

And, BTW, FAB... how in hell's she going to *avoid* showing off her breasts for the world to see... with breasts like those? ;-0

Oh, and BTW, Matt: it's supposed to be the *breasts themselves* doing the writing. That requires fairly strenuous stylistic control to pull off, because you have to get it right *every time*, and she slips occasionally, but I still think she's doing a fairly good job at it. That's why you don't see her face. She has about 5 websites, actually; does damned pretty web design in the bargain.

I've chatted with her at some length, and she seems quite intelligent, and not at all neurotic, at least to me...

Rebekah? Do you really think 'thatbitch's breasts are fake? I didn't get any better view than the rest o'you, but based on the rest of her build, I'd be surprised...

Or does she say so, and I just lost it in that utterly unreadable damned layout?
posted by baylink at 5:10 PM on May 22, 2000

Well, I agree with FAB4GIRL that she probably does it to get attention--but I'm not sure why that is bad. Most people like to get attention, and most people who create websites do so to get attention. For instance, I have a website to showcase my art and web design, and I love the attention it occasionally generates. True, I use art instead of boobs. But some artists paint pictures of boobs. Why? Because they are beautiful? To get attention? I don't know, because I've never tried painting boobs. Maybe my hit count would go up if I did. Hmm....

Let us face facts, shall we, folks? She gets lots of hits because lots of people like to look at pictures of large, pretty breasts.

I, personally, do not feel that there is anything whatever *wrong* with enjoying looknig at large, pretty breasts; I'm a heterosexual adult male with a normal endocrine balance, and I quite being embarassed about it *years* ago.

And I've *never* been frightened by it.

I have a feeling that it's a carefully crafted joke. I think that when you move through life with half of the human race (men/boys/etc.) communicating with you through your breasts, you probably get a bit cynical. But that sort of content does tend to create traffic.

This is good. Unfortunately, you'll also tend to piss off the other half of the population. Of which, a great statistical majority of them (women) either have smaller breasts, and/or are in posession of a man who will try to communicate with... *ahem* well, you get the idea... not good.

But, who cares as she puts it "the blokes like them."

Nope, Les; she's not ugly.

Well Jay, if I'm not mistaken, this is Charlotte, no?. After a lot of "bouncing" around I find the hooters in question are attached to a very intelligent, charming and talented designer.

While we're at it add me to Palegirl's fan club. :0)

I'd concur with your appraisal, though.

i like small boobies.. and i wish the site archived (i refuse to say 'blo**ed' stuff that i havent already seen.

all to links that i either personally frequent or are on everyones site.

but at least she has guts enough to have a site such as she does. its hard because people give a lot of unfair shit to people who are daring.

i dont know one person that liked my now no longer existing website (sikkslife.net).

Sikk, I find this commentary completely unreconcilable with your commentary in her guest book:

> it sucks that you are ashamed to post a picture of your face or yourself but more than happy to post
pictures of your clothed breasts. nice layout/site, perhaps one day your self esteem will grow a bit more?

Did you really think people weren't going to notice?
posted by baylink at 8:16 PM on May 23, 2000

I've changed my mind! After reading her articles on her site I see she isn't just some show off that wants to get guys to drool over her boobs. You may just think that, if you are dropping by, and just see the main page, but after looking more in depth you see that she is intelligent and her articles are great. Plus I like her taste in clothing ;-) When I was in England Top Shop and Miss Selfridge were the best shops! So you go girl! Keep up the good work and be proud of your breasts. :-) Breasts are lovely! ;-)

Oh and Sikk! hahaha! You should be ashamed! Talk about contradicting yourself. ;-)
posted by FAB4GIRL at 10:54 PM on May 23, 2000

I'm glad to see FAB4GIRL changed her opinion. :)

when I found The Breast Chronicles, I didn't know what to make of it at first either. Reading her essays changed that pretty quickly, however. If Eve Ensler ever decides to do "The Breast Monologues" I would hope Charlotte would be one of the cases she based it upon.

It's really a fab site. beautiful design, thoughtful writing, a liberal dose of humor and Baylink's appraisal of the site as "Saucy not Salacious" is an apt one.

Well let's take the "flip side" and look at this year's personal site webby award winner Cocky Bastard, I'm not gay or nothing...but damn! You don't get a body like Halcyon's sitting in front of a computer all day (like me). delve more into his work and you find out he's downright hysterical! Prehensile Tales is one of the greatest sites on the web....

Besides all of yours, of course.

i dont see how i contridicted myself?

i think she _does_ have guts to have a site like that. i read however on her site she didnt want to post a picture of her face because of what someone said. and i merely feel that that is sad. and that was after the fact of posting on here.

hardly a contridiction though. self esteem for ones self has nothing to do with guts.

point proven: my exgirlfriend became a stripper after we stopped dating. she hated her body and she hated herself for whatever reason.. yet she still took her clothes off in front of people.

at anyrate, my opinion still stands. sorry you read it otherwise, but its to be expected from a few idiots.

>I've changed my mind! After reading her articles on her

What if she was a show off who wanted guys to drool over her boobs (figuratively, of course)? When someone is accused of being a show-off -- especially a sexual show-off -- my gut reaction is to think they are somehow bad or childish. But when I think about it for a minute, I'm not sure why showing off is bad (as long as you are not forcing yourself on someone).

What I DON'T like is showing off with pretensions of doing something else (i.e. creating art). But that is because it is dishonest, and I don't like dishonesty. But I can't find anything wrong with honest straightforward exhibitionism.

Objections to exhibitionism remind me of objections to overt sexuality in movies. How many times have we heard "It's okay as long as it's not gratuitous" or "I hate gratuitous sex scenes"? I think ANYTHING gratuitous in a movie is bad, simply because it interferes with the storytelling. But gratuitous sex isn't worse than other kinds of inappropriate things. There are plenty of movies with gratuitous dialogue, jokes, special effects, etc. Yet people ONLY go on and on about gratuitous nudity, sex, etc.

Which makes me suspect that they are dishonest. It is not the gratuitousness that offends them. It is the nudity. They are prudes and what's worse: they are DISHONEST prudes. They don't want to be labeled as prudes, so they cover their prudishness with a veneer of artistic concerns.

I don't think the boob-site of our discussion is just about showing off boobs, but if it was, would it be more or less offensive than a site showing off cars?
posted by grumblebee at 4:10 PM on May 24, 2000

Nicely put, grumble.

I agree. I think the unstated problem people have is, roughly, "if she's a show-off who wants guys to drool over her boobs *because she thinks that's the only way she can *get* attention (and the only kind she can get)*, I ain't down with that [to coin a phrase :-)]."

And I agree. It tends to activate my little-mother-of-all-living reaction, which I have to be careful about; it gets me in trouble.

In Charlotte's case, though, I think that if she *has* been having trouble attracting attention for any reason other than the fact that she has large, pretty breasts (have I used that phrase enough yet this week? :-), the problem is solely that she's hanging out in the wrong places... or that she's become a bit too cynical about mens' reactions to her.

Based on some fairly extended chats with the lady, I'd say she's just hanging out with the wrong blokes.

Too damn bad (for me) she lives in the UK. :-)

And Sikk? My point was that you were glowing in your commentary about her site here, while at the very same time being combative and almost insulting in the comment you made in her guest book.

"perhaps one day your self esteem will grow a bit more?"

Will all due respect, what the fuck business of yours is that to say in a public forum?
posted by baylink at 5:36 PM on May 24, 2000

Well, I don't think theres anything wrong if a girl wants to show off her boobs to have guys drooling over her. Thats her choice. But I mean there is more to her than that and I like that. If she was an unintelligent ditz who just wanted attention then I wouldn't have as much respect for her. Thats what I meant.

I mean I've taken a pic of my boobs to show to a guy so he'd drool! ;-) It worked. LOL!

baylink, im going to end it with this because i dont really feel i need to say more on the matter.

A) perhaps my post on her gbook was a bit harsh, but that was not its intent. She obviously is scared to put her picture on her website; she says so in her 'staff' section.

B) what business is it of mine to comment however i want on a public forum? as soon as anyone makes part of their life/self public, its anyones business.

so much for free speech on the internet eh? specially in a PUBLIC forum. you fucking nazi =)

ligthen up a little bit anyhow, no need to impress the masses by kissing up to the girl because you like her boobs, pervert. =)

Uh oh, this is three invocations of Godwin's Law on MeFi within a *week*! That's bad...

Oh, and any kissing up I'm doing to impress her...

I'm doing in private. :-)

Not that it matters, anyway; her boobs, nice though they are, are geographically undesirable, being, as they are, 3000 miles east of me.
