Hmmm... it will be interesting to see how this one turns out. A biologist on NWCN last night mentioned hitting the orca while it was alongside the boat to overcome it's acceptance of humans. I thought that was a little odd.

You know, I heart animals and all, but all three major Seattle networks are following this thing live as if it were of the most vital importance. It's a feature story! What, are there no car chases to follow?

No offense to the link poster--on the contrary, the story fits much better here than it does on three TV channels.

And while I'm grumpy, did anyone notice how many major typos are in the TV station's report of this? They spell "sight" as "site" and "hostile" as "hostal," just to note two.

It is of particular interest because orcas have just been recently added to the endangered species list and a capture and return like this has never been done before. It is rare for young orca to become orphaned but there is another orca, L98, alone near Vancouver Island. There is also a chance that a capture and return plan for L98 will be developed as well.

I agree that Seattle local news is unprofessional, overly dramatic and wouldn't know the definition of 'breaking news' if it was ten feet ahead of them in a shocking I-5 traffic jam during a moderate shower. But that's just because we're used to those good ole 'CCO high standards of yore.

Perhaps I've been playing too much Morrowind, but I read that headline as "Orphan Orcs". Very interesting link, though, yonderboy.
