Yippee! Free Slurpees!

Today, July 11th only, and only at "participating" 7-11's.

I like a slurpee as much as the next guy, but when I used the store locator, it told me that the nearest 7-11 store (participating or not) was 217 miles from me. Ouch. That's a lot of travel for some sugar + kool-aid + ice.

First, I miseed Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day, then I missed Free Scoop Day at Baskin-Robbins -- if I don't get a free Slurpee today, somebody's gonna get hurt!

I live a block away from a 7-11.
I work a block away from a 7-11.
It is warm and sunny today.

Therefore, I will obtain a free Slurpee.

I have 36 7-11's within 10 miles of me. With 36 potential free slurpees at stake, I better get movin'. Talk about brain freeze.

Here is what the Store Locator returned:
47 miles 21206 1005 CAMP ST
SANDUSKY OH, 44870-3156 USA ATM Map Directions

57 miles 32664 138 ERIE STREET S.
LEAMINGTON ON, N8H 3B7 CANADA ATM GAS

60 miles 29191 92 TALBOT STREET
BLENHEIM ON, N0P 1A0 CANADA

However, when I called the local 7-11 on Detroit here in Lakewood, they said they were participating. Methinks the store locator sucks.

This is good news. I especially love the Moutain Dew Slurpees, how else could you get a brainfreeze and a masive caffeine buzz at the same time-in a container big enough to house a small family, yet. I am in Manhattan today which is not exactly 7-11 central, but I shall keep my eyes peeled.

dang. according to the locator, my nearest 7-11 is in radford, virginia.

a mere 318 miles away.

has anyone gotten one yet? i heard they were only going to be 7.11 ounces. not that it's going to stop me though.

I did! I did. They are pretty small. However, if you have a child or borrow one you get two... :)

For Clevelander's hit the 7-11 on Detroit Avenue in Lakewood... they have two machines going and once they are out, they won't make new slurpees. :(

gummi, three 7-11 stores with .43 miles? Isn't that just a little bit too convenient? Are your city planners trying to keep anyone from having to cross a street to get a Big Gulp?

I have to go to 81 miles for a Slurpee. I knew without checking the store locator because I have checked before when gripped in the thrall of a raging Slurpee thirst. I haven't made the trip yet, but I haven't completely dismissed the idea, either.

No, because you can't actually obtain said slurpee in Richmond without waiting behind a line of 20 lottery ticket buyers.

He's right, ya know. And all three of those stores are near or on a college campus.

Methinks the store locator sucks.

I think if you uncheck the options for ATM, etc., you'll get a better result.

[/pointless point]

I went, and there was a radio station doing a remote in a parking lot built for about 10 cars at the closest location to me. I drank the sucker just waiting to get out of there.

As an aside, the Vanilla Coke slurpee isn't quite as good as I imagined - tastes watered down. Free's free though, eh? :)

i just got mine! while i was driving i was expecting they would be giving away the smallest slurpee size.... but much to my dissapointment, they have special skinny dixie cups for your teasing enjoyment.

Thanks MeFi! Not as nice as a free tivo, but still a worthy item. On the way to do some errands I went by the store that's .39 miles south of here. They had a bunch of a large dixie cups on the counter so I muttered "free slurpee(?)" in a general direction towards the three people behind the counter, grabbed a cup, filled it with cherry minute maid, and left. While walking around with it I noticed that I was getting looks simply because people hadn't seen that kind of cup before. A homeless woman even asked me what it was.

What sucks about this is that there's no mention _anywhere_ that they're giving out free slurpees. Just a small stack of mini-cups by the counter. So unless you read metafilter you'd never know! What sort of promotion is it, if they try to keep it from everyone? what's the friggin' point? And the cups are so small, I just bought my regular size anyways.

112 Seven-Eleven's within a 10 mile radius of me... 39 within 5. Oh, thank heaven...

Nobody who's ever seen the inside of a slurpee machine will ever drink one. I've worked fast food, and some restaurants, so I've seen some pretty disgusting things. Nothing was anywhere near as gross as the inside of the Slurpee macine.

Since I don't have to look inside the Slurpee machine, I am pleased to say: GOT MINE

I had a Mountain Dew Code Red Slurpee, and my wife got a Blue Raspberry one.
