MeFite malevolent trawled some lists of public domain movies (lots of great film noir) and put together a new, improved, or at least free version of Netflix. Behold: Voleflix! Includes films featuring Ed Wood, Fred Astaire, Audrey Hepburn, Vincent Price, Barbara Stanwyck, Cary Grant, Stanley Kubrick, Boris Karloff, Frank Sinatra and more… It also has daft Voleflix Originals and rates your taste in movies from your watchlist. This is a very good project and we just mentioned it on the podcast. We have a lot of people in my town who would like to be watching more movies, often old-timers who like classic film stuff, but find YouTube incredibly alienating. Having a front-end skin that looks familiar is a great way to get people access to more things.

I was going to say I found this from the podcast, so thanks for that!

I was really hoping the Kubrick film was The Killing. Off by 3 years.

Note: the films linked in the OP were my attempt to put a film to the names, not a thorough identification of the best content here, or the best films by any individual named.

The José Ferrer Cyrano is just damn fun. And now I wonder if we can get a period sequel to The Fast and the Furious: Original Edition.

Is the name a reference to 20th Century Vole?

No, but one of the old logo ideas for the parent site was, with hindsight, remarkably similar to the bit with a vole taking the place of the MGM lion.

Super cool idea, done real well. I *love* Plan 9 From Outer Space -- Ed Wood was nuts. It's so very cool.

I was hoping to see Wood's Glen or Glenda, thought maybe it's not yet public domain but it is -- Glen or Glenda.

A little background on Glen or Glenda, for anyone who might not be familar with it, excerpted from Wikipedia:
The film is a docudrama about cross-dressing and transsexuality, and is semi-autobiographical in nature. Wood himself was a cross-dresser, and the film is a plea for tolerance. It is widely considered one of the worst films ever made. However, it has become a cult film due to its low-budget production values and idiosyncratic style.

Just watched Corman’s Bucket of Blood. Comedy horror with beatniks! And art!! Quite a good little movie.

Corman's The Fast & The Furious, however, not so much.

This is so cool!
Royal Wedding is one of my favorite movies. So much fun - and good for comfort viewing.
