Uh-oh. Here's hoping not all foams are alike.

The message board is very suspicious. It kind of seems like all of the comments were written by the author of the site. This is my favorite.

THANK GOD I can finally paint 'class of '94 ROCKS' on my car. Oh where was spirit foam ten years ago? *sigh* I guess I wasn't meant to be spirited.

Okay, let me just say that's the coolest thing I've ever seen. I pity the poor bastard that gets married next.

His car's getting a foamin'.

I was kind of reading the how-to-use instructions as steps 1, 2, 3. That's spray it on, peel it off and throw it away. That seemed like pretty much what I would immediately do with it.

I would use it to make my genitalia fluoro-tumescent, then chase my wife through the house with my giant orange penis.

During fifth, or perhaps fourth, grade I attended a suburban Kansas elementary school. As you can imagine, a great amount of enthusiasm was [easily] developed because a science teacher, who had saved his measly salary, accepted an offer to join a newly established professional indoor soccer [football] team. The teachers, generally women in their 30's, organized all the students to purchase 3 or so cans of shaving cream to cover the new professional soccer player's car with congratulatory words. Well, the new soccer player was surprised, the teachers were happy, and the children were incredibly excited (we didn't get out very often... not at the teacher parking lot during class hours).

The next day, all the students were gathered into a large classroom with the teachers at the head of the class. Apparently, the new soccer player's car was now packaged with permanent words of encouragement on the paint surface because the shaving cream dissolved the paint. It was a sad moment and excitement turned to sorrow --- the teachers blamed the young students for their flaws. I felt guilty and, like most other students in that room, cried thinking we had destroyed the new soccer player's car.

If Spirit Foam was available during the early 1980's, I would not continue to carry disastrous childhood events, such as this one, with me

Spirit foam? What the hell, we already have quantum foam:

"[S]pace is actually a foaming mass of quantum activity. This quantum foam is made of particles and micro-black holes popping in and out of existence, apparently in contravention of the second law of thermodynamics, they appear out of nothing with energy, then disappear again just as quickly. The key to this is the uncertainty principle. The disturbance is permitted to ‘borrow’ a tiny amount of energy and exist for a very short length of time, and then it must return the energy and disappear again. But, the more energy it borrows, the less time it is allowed to exist. These ‘temporary’ particles, called virtual particles, are not just theoretical, they have been proven to have real effects on scientific experiment."

Mmmm.....universe foam

Your car Brandon? Mom's going to kill you when she gets home.

Okay, what I would like to know is, what were the chemists actually trying to produce when they accidentally came up with this substance? 'Cause I'm pretty sure 3-D Spirit Foam wasn't it.

cheerleading has finally been reduced to a spray can.

The last thing I need to do is going to bed with a cheerleader in a can.. I'll wake up with "spirit foam" all over me and then I'll have to take a shower.

Come on. Somebody had to say it.

Damn you sentence that I altered in mid-thought! Damn you!

Being that it's Matt's site, he's entitled, surely, to an occassional lapse in judgement.

The kids today, they have got some neat toys. Have those blow bubbles that are supposedly solid made it the US yet? (Or seeing as how we're not all here, has anyone actually seen 'em somewhere else?)

At least Wham-O could SPELL "Super Elastic Bubble Plastic".

And I'm shocked, SHOCKED I SAY, at the dearth of SEBP links out there. It smelled REALLY good. Is that so wrong? Is information being supressed here?

mr_crash_davis: You might want to rethink that approach.

Bwhahahahh...oh wait...that's just *so* wrong.... ;)

They say to never use the foam in direct sunlight and only when the temperature is about 32 degrees...I'd like to point out that this product will never be much use in Texas. :)

Do not taunt happy spirit foam.

Last year, I flew from Portland to North Carolina for my brother's wedding. As best man, I kinda figured it was my responsibility to, ah, make sure that his truck looked right as they drove it across the country for their honey moon. I used something suspiciously similar to this "spirit foam."

Then, he and his new wife took a position in Alaska, and I moved to California, where I suddenly found myself in need of a vehicle, like the one which happened to be parked in my Mom's driveway not doing anything... Anyhow, to make a long story slightly less long, that stuff does *not* come off of automotive paint easily. The guys at the car wash just shake their heads sadly when I bring the truck 'round.

dejah420: Um, no, they say to use it only when the temp is *above* 32 degrees.

Oh, heh...oops. :) Well, still...the direct sunlight still leaves Texas out of the loop...although, according to the site, it's sold at the ubiquitous Wallymart a few miles away. :)

From that link about related foam recall, I thought this was a bizarre quote:

"and cause injury to a nearby consumer."

And yeah, this foam is the coolest.

Old, shoe polish on your car windows.
New, spirit foam, now anyone can drive around like a cheerleader, cheerleader pom poms sold separately.

I'm going to write "Honky Lips" on the back panel of my station wagon with Spirit, like the Family Truckster in National Lampoon's Vacation.

I bought them a few months ago for some toddler relatives of mine. We had a great time with them...

A few hours after we stopped playing with the bubbles, the cat came strolling out of a bedroom and still had a bubble on the top of her head.

Good times.
